needed rule change

If we are lucky enough to have a season the teams need to have larger practice squads. In addition to the usual injuries there will certainly be players in quarantine.
It's already been reported they're discussing increasing them

There will be players who are asymptomatic who test positive. My hope is the summer heat coupled with protocols will keep it to a minimum.
They should consider 20 players. Honestly....
Summer heat ain't doin squat...

I'm not a Dr. but will say there are reasons for the increase. I believe we'll see numbers go up in populated areas especially as he drives people inside to air conditioning. Also more testing we are going to find out a hell of a lot more folks have been fairly asymptomatic.
But we will see. I have no crystal ball.

That is a reasonable hope but I don't think there's any evidence that the virus is seasonal the way flu is. Right now the hotter parts of the country are having the biggest spikes. Hot & humid southeast, check. Hot & dry desert west, check.

So it's really more about the protocols.

I think we are going to figure out that being "indoors with poor air circulation" is the biggest culprit.

It is. I was listening to a doctor the other day. He said the testing is showing the being outside is near 0% 9f contracting it. He said even getting it from a surface is rare. He said about 1000 particles need to get in your body to infect you. He said when a person who has it breaths out they release about 30 particles. Even a cough isn't really enough. It is being inside with poor circulation and no masks where this is being transferred. He still recommends washing your hands, practicing social distancing, and wearing a mask even around others outside.

Wearing a mask outside for me would only "possibly" be necessary if you were congregated in a very small area with like no wind. But I get ya. UPMC, top medical school, is stating that while there are more cases there are fewer severity cases as older populations, the obese and those with heart issues and such are more careful. I don't know what will happen in a few weeks but I think we'll continue to see positives for those who are indoors due to weather too much. To be healthy, you need to be outside and not breathing carbon monoxide. Exercise. Socialization. A weakened immune system is not a good thing.
The news said 34 minutes in mid-day sun kills almost all the virus. I'm NJ.

Consider that influenza and coronavirus are from two different families of viruses, so don't expect them to behave similarly. We are in unchartered territory regarding certain aspects of this disease.
We do know that masks and social distancing are the two most important things we can do to lessen the impact of
Covid-19.
Ashame we're not all with the program.

I have been "out and about" in NJ where rates are high. I have a strong immune system but I do have autoimmune disease due to poor detoxification genes combined with environmental toxins. I have a 160 degree infrared sauna which detoxes me, I sweat, then shower off. I never wear a mask outside and only wear it to the store for other people's sanity.
Many doctors will not speak up against the mainstream media for obvious reasons.
Washing hands, good diet, supplements, exercise are all necessary components (to name a few).
I believe 66% of NYC's early cases where from people quarantine at home and wearing masks. Why? They live in mostly apartments with little ventilation so you are sucking in all sorts of craps.
I also have top end air cleaners which help too.
If you're outdoors and not in close proximity to others, no need....
MOOPS : 6/28/2020 7:04 pm : link
CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
Cloth face coverings may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.
Cloth face coverings are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely used by people in public settings.
Cloth face coverings should NOT be worn by children under the age of 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
