matchup. But there is a long way to go and lots more covid-19 influence to be worried about.
What I wonder is, just how ready the pitchers will be? Did throwing at "home" build up arm strength? At three weeks of ST, the starters would be at maybe 50 pitches, no? So where does that put Cole/Scherzer?
in early games. Would not be surprised if they are lifted by the 5th inning even if pitching well. It will be interesting to see the strategies in a short season.

Do you think There s a chance with only 60 games they will be less concerned about pitch counts ,if they are throwing well; especially with the new rules that relief pitchers must face minimum of 3 batters.

Managers might use the bullpen more, not less in a 60 game season because every game has greater importance
and several teams have already said that they will be much more unorthodox in how they manage their rotation this year - Tampa started the trend of the opener/long reliever... i think more teams adopt that on steroids this year.
As an aside, would be swell if people would stop interjecting their opinions on every damn thread on whether a season will actually take place this summer.

Amen, to your last pt. Thank you. It s almost as if some resent any optimism by others.

Agreed, I think you'll see teams prep more guys for the "long" middle relief role...as in, starter goes 3-5 innings, then a couple relievers prep to go 2, followed by 1-2 1 inning relievers.
