Long story short, Covid has done a number on our vacation plans this summer. We originally had a trip to Jamaica booked for my daughters sweet 16 end of July. Had to cancel it.
Then, my sister in law invited us and some other family members to go to their Myrtle Beach condo that week. Group of 10 total (All from Long Island)
Now the mandatory 14 day NY quarantine has canceled that one.
We are in scramble mode and looking for last minute ideas. We are pretty much open to anything, a lake house, beach house, whatever. Anyone have any ideas on areas they can recommend? It’s 6 adults and 4 kids. We are open to any ideas right now since we all took off that week (7/25 - 8/1).
Thanks
Both Lakes and towns make great vacation spots.
Good Luck...
the quarantine is for people coming from out of state to visit NY ..
there is no quarantine currently for people coming to NC
This is what we are doing. Going in two weeks. Still will technically supposed to quarantine when we get back because NC is seeing a rise in cases but the whole point of renting the house and staying at the beach was to have a vacation with good social distancing so we're planning on just coming back and doing our usual (which is good social distancing anyway)

The issue is if you travel to North Carolina, when you come back you’re supposed to quarantine.
I’m dealing with the same issue as the 14 day period overlaps with the start of school for us. It’s a tough decision as we know we will social distance while down there but also want to do our part to make sure schools open safely. Hopefully NC (and all other states for that matter) get dropped off the list soon, but I’m not too optimistic of that.
A lake house is a great idea, but you have to account for risk while travelling and while there.
We cancelled our beach house in Fenwick Island, De - not because of concerns with our family or Fenwick itself, but because of the trip itself (public restrooms, rest area's a risk) - we would be dealing with crowded supermarkets, stores - really limits what you can do when you're surrounded by high risk vacationers.
So, sadly, we cancelled. End of an 11 straight year stretch with this family.
Don't be stupid folks. Steer wide of densely packed areas, and don't presume that because a vacation spot has low CoVid counts today that it will be the same come late July or August.
I’ve been very focused on social distancing since the pandemic started, but I see less and less folks wearing masks at resort areas up here in NH.

It is an option to look into.
Yes, if you want to find the MOST LIKELY place to catch CoVid, without a doubt Great Wolf and Kalahari are for you. Mobs, close proximity, people from out of the region, indoors, can't mask while swimming, hit's all the buttons for high risk criteria.
Supposedly, they are running at a reduced capacity. It will be interesting to see how that plays out over the next few weeks.
Instead of Fenwick, De, I'll be at Wellesly Island up on the St. Lawrence and Brennan's Beach on Lake Ontario.
Just get me the feck outta town!!

We aren't. Obviously there is some added risk but we've been pretty diligent. At some point, we have to branch out a bit. We've seen them for BBQs since Memorial Day. That's kinda when we started seeing family members again. But we're still keeping mindful of it and wearing masks in public places.
Absolutely not! I know that wasn’t your intention. Listen, we are all new to this. Everyone of us. All sides have valid points. I’m just trying to use as much common sense as I can and try to sprinkle in some normalcy here and there.

If you decide to quarantine at the house you rent they will do all your local shopping for you.
Stowe Country Homes - ( New Window )
This sucks but can’t justify messing with the return to school or sports for a vacation.
