was terrible for golf. Nothing against Joe Buck, but you can tell it wasn't his sport and made many mistakes. Problem is he would refer to his color guy and he was even worse (originally Greg Norman), although Azinger wasn't too bad.
Maybe with the US Open now moving back to NBC, the Golf Channel can start more early morning and actual golf coverage instead of just doing a round table in the middle of the course for 8 hours.
Either their football coverage or the Masters will move to CW
which is also owned by CBS. I have a hard time believing that it's gonna be football that moves though. The ratings for football would crush the masters if they go head to head into.

Agreed, even if you look at the numbers the Masters did last year with Tiger in contention and ultimately winning on Sunday, they still don't touch the NFL.

Yeah I did a quick look and their game of the week nearly doubles the ratings of the Masters on average.

True, but the Masters operates on a year to year basis with TV rights. I would be stunned if CBS goes that direction and jeopardizes their relationship with the tournament for future years.
I think the Masters will be played early and lead into a 4:25 game if I had to guess. CBS probably will give up the early games window that week.
The Masters will have to be played early anyway. The sun won't be out long enough to stretch it through prime time in mid-November after the clocks are turned back.
Yes, Masters issue was decided when NFL released schedule in May
CBS only gets the 4 pm window that weekend, three games.
Quote:
The NFL accommodated CBS when it released its 2020 schedule on May 8, only scheduling 4:00 pm EST games on CBS. This allows the Masters to hold the final round similar to 2019 when the threat of inclement weather forced the final round to begin early and wrap up by 3:00 pm EST.
It won't be their call. CBS has a 1 year contract to televise the Masters. The Masters controls everything that happens with their tournament. They are the last sporting event that runs TV not the other way around.
Do some research about the people who own and run the Masters. It's quite eye opening.

0% chance the Masters will be televised on anything but CBS.

Great news because FOX was completely out of its element broadcasting golf. It was brutal.
.
+1.
Joel Klatt talking golf was very brutal. Tough enough listening to his non-stop chatter during college football games, geez.
He has what a lot of analysts have these days,
I refer to it as diarrhea of the mouth.
I know it sounds shitty, but it's the truth...
If they have the golf tee off early in the AM for the final round, they can end by mid-afternoon.
The sunset is about 5:20 pm on 11/15, so the tee times will have to be stacked accordingly. They likely will want to have daylight for a playoff as well, so I have to think they will try to be finishing the regulation play by 4 if not earlier.
Sports networks appear to be shedding secondary short-term TV contracts.
I agree, FOX was up to snuff on Golf coverage..

NOT up to snuff....apologies. Pre-coffee post.

Not a chance. Nantz already said Augusta is where he will be that weekend.

????
If Nantz/CBS will be at Augusta, then CBS will not be doing football that Sunday.

Didn't realize they had a year to year contract.
