I apologize if this was covered in one of the previous TV threads, but I thought as sports fans this fine 6 episode drama series on the birth of soccer/football deserves to be called attention to.
It's both fine entertainment and informative.
If this is redundant I (or a mod) can delete.
A very enjoyable mini series, the moreso because it didn't drag on for seasons. You could scoop it up in short order.
A very class-conscious treatment of the roots of the game, and its expansion as it caught on way beyond its roots, for pay for the humble mill workers who didn't have time from work for practice, coaching, fitness. Perhaps a bit idealized but seems certain there is more than a grain of truth. And the Eatonians were not above dirty football, elite-originated rules of the game be damned!
However, the segments of each episode that showed the boys playing the game on the pitch were wince-worthy. Could the game have been so primitive back then? Maybe so.

How 'wince-worthy'were initial versions of baseball and peach-basketball?
To be sure, as said above, very enjoyable. Niamh Walsh (Margaret) very fetching; I alternately wanted to strangle and hug Fergus, as did Jimmy and Doris
