Lol...I never made zeppolis. I make pizza fritta, which is somewhat similar but not really. My great Aunt Adelena (Lena) used to deep fry them on her wood burning stove....they were unbelievably delicious but I never got the recipe. She's been gone for 30 years or more by now. My grandfather, (her brother) the last of that generation, died last summer at the age of 104. He still lived alone. Sorry I couldn't be of help on this one!
