NFT: Golf Sunday 7/5

I know I'm not alone here with this opinion, but DeChambeau is the biggest douche going in any sport right now.

Come on Wolff
He never

misses a chance to be a total douche. God forbid the camerman do his job.

He doesn't bother me
section125 : 7/5/2020 6:13 pm : link
in the least. There are lots of douches in every sport. Was he wrong about the cameraman, of course. I do believe he will have back problems eventually with that torque.

I got a laugh at the protesters. I heard them about 30 minutes before CBS acknowledged it.

I do think the charity of getting internet to the inner city kids is a great choice.

You are not the only one. He plays so slow too. The tour needs to do something about it.
he's an asshole
UConn4523 : 7/5/2020 7:00 pm : link
and hardly the biggest douche in sports. Holy over reaction.
I haven’t followed him closely
BigBlueShock : 7/5/2020 7:05 pm : link
Has he had other incidents like the one this week in the past?

It’s not surprising that he’s having these temper tantrums now. Roid rage is a hell of a thing.
He’s not very well liked among the PGA Tour players
GiantGolfer : 7/5/2020 7:59 pm : link
But he’s just one of many out there. I appreciate the character he has created though. Makes it much more interesting. He and Patrick Reed hate each other.
Not my favorite player by far
Southern Man : 7/5/2020 8:13 pm : link
but what he's done is pretty remarkable. Every sport needs good guys and bad guys, and he makes an excellent bad guy.
He may be a douche
Danny Kanell : 7/5/2020 9:09 pm : link
But he’s pretty damn fun to watch right now.
Every sport needs a good villian.
Heisenberg : 7/6/2020 9:04 am : link
Enter Bryson...

He's easily the most interesting player on tour. A true asshole who's trying mad scientist stuff with his game, comes back all roided up and hitting bombs. I mean, c'mon. he's fun.
I don’t mind him.
yatqb : 7/6/2020 9:12 am : link
He sure is fascinating. And I think he had a reasonable point about the camera man. In other sports they cut away from some of that, in golf, the “gentleman’s game” it’s a story if someone gets upset. Pretty ridiculous to me; “My god, Tiger slammed his club after a bad drive, how gauche”.
Spieth is the same way
nygiants16 : 7/6/2020 9:28 am : link
he shows a lot of emotion on the course, then you habe koepka and dustin johnson who show no emotion
The new 'Michelin Man'
Carson53 : 7/6/2020 10:26 am : link
is Bryson Dechambeau, that dude is huge!
I don't mind him, but he is a bit anal.
.

Finally an interesting person on the PGA tour. I like his scientific approach to the game, he is breaking some new ground here.

Being outwardly intelligent as a public figure in America will always bring out hordes of haters.
356 yard drives. Down the middle.
thrunthrublue : 7/6/2020 11:28 am : link
An era altering phenom.
One drive yesterday was 376 yards of carry, meaning in the air....
Crispino : 7/6/2020 11:54 am : link
for those not familiar. Doesn’t even take into account the amount it rolled after landing. That’s just crazy.
I played a round at UofSC's cobblestone golf club yesterday...
Kev in Cali : 7/6/2020 11:57 am : link
with some Am tour players in SC. One player in my group played a practice round with Bryse at some point in time and recalled he turned into a prick when he was outdriving him.

I'm a fan of golf, and the attitudes make it fun; I don't see the harm in any of this....

Let your game do the talking...but the "hurting my image" aspect is a bit of a reach. Play golf or go into marketing!

Tiger is one of the biggest assholes ever to step on a golf course....
Crispino : 7/6/2020 5:57 pm : link
but it doesn’t keep millions of fans from adoring him. To each his own.
What's
MookGiants : 7/6/2020 6:01 pm : link
remarkable about him right now?

Sure, he drives the ball an insane length, but he has yet to actually be in the hunt on sunday for a major and he's been awful in ryder cup/presidents cup.

Exactly. He has not won a major. So what if he hits it a long way. Golf is not a game of how far. It's a game of how close.
Winning majors is hard
UConn4523 : 7/6/2020 7:07 pm : link
some of you people have ridiculous expectations. So only like Golfers that won a title?

What is he 26? He's been developing his game. Working on how he wants to play it, basically developing a new style of play using mathematics. He's very smart. He is a good putter(very important). His wedges are a bit off and I think Faldo may be right - go to steel for a more accurate shot and reliable distance.
He has won 6 times already. I attached the wikipedia article on player wins. Look at the players with 6 wins. Pretty decent players. He will win a lot more if he doesn't hurt his back.

Will he win a major? IDK. PGA and British are most likely and the Masters is generally won by a long hitter, but he is right now not accurate enough inside 120 yards. Not sure where his head is - is he mentally tough enough? IDK

Did Patrick Reed retire?
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 7/6/2020 7:50 pm : link
Because if not, he's the biggest douchebag in the sport.
