NFT: Slow computer after Edge update

Gman11 : 7/6/2020 1:52 pm
Ever since Microsoft updated Edge and a couple other things my computer has been running really slow. I read that there isn't a way to undo the update and you can't delete Edge. Is there any hope for my computer?

My Windows 10 Pc was running really slowly and after the latest update with Edge, it’s now running much faster.
Give This A Try

No guarantees , but it works for me every time Microsoft installs Edge on my Windows 10 PC .

On your local disc C: , open the Windows Folder . Then open the System Apps folder . Find everything with the name Edge and simply rename it . For instance , simply add a suffix such as -123 or -746 to the end of everything named Edge .

This has disabled Edge without any harm to my PC every time Microsoft installs it . Note that if you do this , every time Windows updates , it will re install Edge but all you need to do is rename the Files as explained above to disable this pain in the ass program .

Good Luck .

One More Try

Hi Gman .

I just used this method to disable Edge a few days ago .

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my original post but first you need to highlight every line that reads "Edge" , then right click that line and click on "Rename" and add whatever suffix you'd like such as -135 .

It's worked for me every time Windows 10 updates and installs Edge .

Edge cannot be removed but it can be disabled in this way.
Microsoft edge

I used solution 1 on this page.

It basically disables Edge. I so rarely use Windows but I have it as a dual boot in case I do need it for anything. I forgot how annoying it is and how long it takes with their crappy updates that just force things like Edge down your throat.

This is exactly why I switched to Ubuntu all those years ago.
