NFT: Best way to share MS Excel spreadsheet for group online?

NYG27 : 7/7/2020 10:22 am
I have a group of 6 that I want to share a MS Excel spreadsheet with. Looking for a place online where I can upload the spreadsheet and they all can update it on a daily basis.

Also looking to upload some other project related documents but those can be Read Only.

What is the best options online. Currently looking at Google Docs/Drive. Any other options BBIers would recommend?

Google Sheets makes it really easy to collaborate
I could be wrong but if you upload it

to Google Drive I think it'll turn it into Google Sheets and not everything is transferable.

I don't know how this works since I am not the owner but through my job we have Office 365 and have Share Point which allows others to edit an excel spreadsheet at once. Not sure if they all need accounts or part of a certain domain but that is one way.

Depends how complex the excel sheet is, but I second Google Sheets (assuming there's no sensitive information).
use google docs

It's a pretty straight forward spreadsheet

No formatting or formulas. Just trying to track their daily progress on projects and only fields I need the group to update is the Comments sections.

Security wise, how is Google Docs/Drive? Will only the people I share the files with have access to them or is it like Zoom, where people can access that weren't invited?
as others said

the easiest is Google Sheets, particularly if everyone involved already has a gmail account. Just make sure you create a backup first in case the conversion screws some stuff up.

That said, if you have complicated filtering and formatting, Sheets may not work. In that case, if you have a OneDrive account, you can simply share the Excel workbook.

Definitely better than Zoom and I believe you can set it so only people you share it with can access it.
FWIW

I think Sheets has a better mobile app, so if they're just editing a single cell each day, it's probably easier to do so from Sheets (at least via mobile access).

Uses MS Teams to show power point and excel documents to discuss and work through projects

What he said. Sheets is very easy to use among other users/ larger groups for projects. What you do for privacy is you create the project and you can specify the security/share settings. Think you can do it so that you can add people individually to give them different levels of access/ view ability, set it so that only you can share or allow access in editing and sharing so you will have say over all it is shared with if that’s what your worried about.

I used to prefer using google suite over MS in my old job, I always ahead to share data with multiple people and different organizations, it was just so much easier and seem less to do so than excel or anything MS.
You don't have Microsoft OneDrive?
