to eventually become a good coach. But he's not there yet, IMO, and he's not exactly what I'd call a high character individual. I think we can do better.
They will gamble on Kidd’s relationship with Giannis to lure the star. They will strikeout on that per usual and they will fire Kidd and start all over again.
equals Jason Kidd. BigBlueShock is right - he'd be here to land AD and/or Giannis. He won't, and will probably quit before he gets fired. Milwaukee and Brooklyn improved the minute Kidd left.
Chalk some of that up to his New Jersey roots, but it's still nice to have a smart, connected young guy around - hopefully they'll groom him to take over for Scott Perry.
and have discussed them with posters like nygiants16 but this all feels like more of the same. The more things change the more they stay the same. Now, nothing is done yet so there is nothing to be upset with as of yet. All I am saying is this feels just like many times before. I hope it isn't.

I share those concerns, but as you mentioned - too early to tell if we're indeed going down the same road. I'm excited by the front office hires - a shake-up was long overdue.

we've had talented young people in different parts of the organization going back years. But there's only so much you can do when you have idiots like Phil, Mills, etc. making the big decisions.
IMO, Rose is still a huge unknown until proven otherwise.
I happened to play golf with John Starks on Sunday who said he likes both Atkinson and Kidd as head coaches (and a big no to Thibs).
I’ve played with Starks in Colts Neck. Not in a few years. Glad he’s a big fan of Atkinson.
Ha - yeah we played up in CT. I had a few guys drop out and he was waiting around to get in a tee time. He was really good and I"m on the opposite side of the golf spectrum.
He also accused me of lying about my first hole score lol. It was quite the experience.
If you want Giannis, you better get another star here before the summer of 2021. If Rose and Wesley are such power brokers, go pry AD away from Lebron - then you'll have everyone's attention. Wes has the Kentucky connections, Calipari can probably sell ice to an eskimo with his gift of gab - so the three of them can go out to LA in October and convince him. Otherwise, enough with the pipe dreams.
RE: The Giannis stuff is enough to drive ya crazy.

yup if this your plan, go get a superstar to help you recruit, otherwise you got no shot, i dont care eho you got as coach
No one seems to be taking Mike Miller seriously. He did a very good
and once you find a franchise player you start dealing off the other young pieces and assets for veterans. Heat landed Wade and traded Lamar Odom and Caron Butler (I think) for Shaq. Celtics had Pierce and traded young players and draft picks for KG/Allen. Knicks don't have the franchise player yet - and I don't think KP was that guy either, despite the horrendous trade. Donovan Mitchell was probably the one that got away - if we land a guy like him it opens the door for another free agent and allows you to deal off all the surplus draft picks for the best player you can get.
for Melo and may have to do something similar in the near future for another star, leaving us with an empty cupboard. Let's face it, it's incredibly difficult to build a championship team in the NBA, even for the smart franchises.

What has Philly done? You will probably say they haven't won anything, and Embiid is future Knick if we can find a smooth talkin Cameroonian Native for the front office.
But the truth is,if they had hit on Fultz, they would beat us by 35 instead of 20.And would be a serious threat to win it all.
A team I would point to as proof of that is Oklahoma City.Who drafted Harden,Westbrick, and Durant.

There are numerous other examples.
Philly is the 6th seed and capped out...
OKC got to a final and then had to trade off Harden, OKC got extremely lucky..
So many examples, name them? i bet you wont find 1 team that was built solely on tanking
it is ownership/management. They need to change their perception around the league and the current hirings isn't anywhere near enough. I can also argue that we'd be better off keeping the cap space and doing what Miami did when they got the big three because that FA class in a couple of years is, on paper, insane. Players want to choose who they play with. With all of that said, none of it matters if we don't get our house in order. I'm also nor saying we shouldn't try landing a big fish first either as that could go a long way towards changing that perception. But that perception needs to change no matter what direction they choose to go in.

This world wide wes's job, kind of surprised he was officially hired...he is a behind the scenes guy,..
They need to be better, dolan is not going anywhere, have to improve the product on the court...only way to change perception
Spot on. As I've said ad nauseum, the fish rots from the head. Dolan continues to be such an impediment to this franchise having success. In a perfect world, he'd sell.
WWW needs to tell Dolan to sign the checks & STFU. Don't do interviews. Don't call ex Knicks who ? him alcoholics. Go on a Never Ending Tour ala Dylan with JD & The Straight Shot.

Dolan needs to never speak again..
It is part of the reason i wojld be semi ok with Kidd, you need your head coach to talk to the mrdia, answer tough questions..
alone should have been enough to get Perry fired. They got NOTHING in return for a budding star.
Still can't get over that bullshit trade.
The amazing part about the trade is that IMMEDIATELY it was obvious that the trade was bullshit... You didn't need to be an insider to know that. Then rumors started leaking that the Knicks didn't even shop him around, making it worse by ten fold. Yet there were still some who drank the kool aid, and found a silver lining with the deal.
I don't care what the Knicks do on paper anymore. Until we see results, they're a rotten franchise who aims for embarrassment. They're the "hold my beer" franchise when it comes to embarrassment.
Wash, rinse, repeat...

Not rely on rumors, gossip, backtalk from salesman.Which may be backed by questionable motives.
As they may find out in the near future.
It has to be both..
better than Fizdale does not = "very good". He was ok.
It has to be both..
100% - just ask the Sacramento Kings

Hindsight a good front office and well run team does not trade him...
Mills and Perry were convinced they were getting durant and screwed the pooch
Yes.
Still can't get over that bullshit trade.
Dolan trusts the people he hires way to much...
He probably said ehh i trust these guys ok do what you want..
