Amani Toomer's 2002 season.

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 7/7/2020 5:42 pm
Stat line: 82 catches for 1,343 yards & 8 TDs. And his #s vs. the SF in the WC game: 8 catches for 136 yards & 3 TDs.

Is that the best season-including the playoffs- a Giants WR ever had? I know Nicks & Odell put up some nice seasons too, but Odell did nada in the WC game vs. the Packers in '16. Nicks' '11 regular season #s weren't as good as Amani, but he balled out in the playoffs: 28 catches for 444 receptions & 4 TDs.

To me, the closest comparison-and I won't fight you if you think his season was better than Toomer's '02-is VC's '11 season. He too had 82 catches but more yards (1,536) & TDs (9). His playoff #s: 21 grabs for 269 yards & 1 TD.

It sucks neither Nicks or Cruz could stay healthy.

Played a nice 2 man game with shockey and toomer
play action with tiki, shockey was a tough match up
Toomer worked real well playing off of that
I was real happy with his progression after yr 2
sure shockey turned into

a bit of a redneck drunken douche
but he was a bad ass, match up problem, and if not beat up-wouldve had a much longer impact
Nicks' 2011 vs. Curz in 2011 was a toss-up

Cruz had the far more memorable regular season, especially from a big play perspective. But Nicks was still the guy seeing the toughest coverage and he was clearly our best WR in the playoffs.

Odell in his rookie year was the best a WR has played for the Giants since Homer Jones probably, if not ever. I know he was a diva and wore out his welcome, and I know he had problems with easy drops after that rookie season. But I've never seen a WR play better for this team than he did in 2014, and it really isn't close. The 6-10 record makes it less important than Nicks or Cruz in '11, even if he played at a higher level imo.
All I know is that he was screwed out of his only Pro Bowl & All Pro.

He was the best WR in the NFC (2nd in NFL) over his last 8 games.

odell was just ridiculous

was hoping him and saquon wouldve been a silly match up issue for teams
But he got banged upped, injuries made him lose a step, not likey diva ways and crappy oline put that to rest
Toomer is underate on here alot

Maybe because they wasn't winning enough but there was a 5 year period where only 5 WR's logged 1000 or more yards consecutively between 1999 - 2003.

Randy Moss
Marvin Harrison
Isaac Bruce
Terrell Owens
Amani Toomer

Cruz vs. Nick's in 2011 was great because you would get a run of games where you think one guy is better, followed by a streak where the other guy looks better. The passing game was deadly that year. Shame everyone got injured.
Cruz’ season was the best ever.

Agreed, his first two season's were simply unreal. He beat double teams easily and held onto the ball. Then the process of becoming "Bigger Than Life" began to take place more and more and he became a bit of a diva - me, me, me. He is likely to be traded again from the Browns. What does that tell ya?
Talented: YES!! Worth the headaches: Not really.
