Those Cowboys 49ers NFC Championship games in the '90s...

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 7/9/2020 7:56 pm
I went down a YouTube rabbit hole earlier & all of a sudden I'm watching highlights of the '94 NFC Title Game in SF, where the 49ers finally broke through & beat Dallas, denying the Cowboys a probable 3-peat (they probably crush the Bolts like SF did 2 weeks later).

I remember watching those 3 title games ('92, '93, & '94) with a sense of absolute sickness because I hated-HATED-both teams for the obvious reasons. And let's face it, we all knew the winner was going to win it all. People jokingly referred to it as the 'Real Super Bowl'.

I'm assuming 99.99% of the answers will be the 49ers, but who did you 'root'-& I use it in the loosest term possible-in those 3 agonizing matchups?

To me, the only other comparison would be 3 straight seasons where the Eagles-Cowboys met in the NFC Championship Game, in which case I'm rooting for an asteroid to slam into Earth & just end mankind. And you think I'm kidding, Haha.
I could'nt even watch the NFC title games in

'93 & '94. I'd watch the Bill beat whoever in the AFC game then do something else. I couldn't stomach the 49ers and cowboys every year. Thoise were tough times to be a Giant fan.

was Super Bowl V against the Colts. For some reason I didn't like the Colts. (I was 11.)

Otherwise, my two favorite football teams any given Sunday are the Giants and whoever is playing Dallas.

I have to admit, though, that as Dallas's actual success has waned (even though they are always hyped as if they were head and shoulders above the league), the Eagles have become more hatable for me. The Washington team? Well, as they say in the south, bless their hearts...
Still can't get over that loss to the REDSKINS

Horrible loss. We win that game, we win the division.

But without looking it up and if I remember correctly, the cool thing about those 49ers Cowboys NFC championship games in the 90s was the loser always got their asses handed to them. So at least that was funny to see...
I remember wanting the 49ers to win

in 94 because I was sick of the Cowboys winning. I was probably more pissed about the Redskins winning in 1991 than the Cowboys. They were the big rival during the late 80s. Cowboys were terrible so I didn't have the hatred because I was too young to remember the 70s.

... rooting for an asteroid to slam into ... the stadium taking out both teams and fanbases.
