NFT: Happy 90 to Pete Carril today.

MOOPS : 7/10/2020 11:56 am
I used to love college ball back in the day. The Princeton offense could level the playing field against bigger, more athletic and talented teams. His kids were a pleasure to watch.

And Luigi Carnesecca turned 95 earlier this year. Another gem on the court. He coached some great players in his time. St. John's hasn't been the same since he left.

Just reminiscing. Where does the time go.

You are a character, it usually comes with being a jerk too, with Lou, it was no act, that was him, that is why he is and always will be beloved.
Born and raised in Princeton during the Carrill years

my Dad went to Princeton and was a football player in the 70s so he knew him well.

Still cant believe how great a game that was against Georgetown in the mid 80s. And I remember going with my high school buddies to Jadwin Gym when they hosted Loyola-Maramount in the early 90s - run n' gun against Princeton's milk the clock approach... Princeton ended up crushing them in a rare national TV appearance.

At the keep away game, running around passing, then the backdoor pass and layup. That Georgetown game was a classic.
Teams hated to play Princeton

Happy 90th Pete.

Why was Louie a jerk? I have never heard that before?

Great guy, was involved and talking to all the kids even though we were like 8th graders
Enjoyed watching his teams

Saw them live in LV against the Rebels.
I also remember seeing him in Denver, the visiting team had him as an NBA assistant coach. Can't remember the team, but it was weird.
