already and if it doesn't increase as projected it could be even worse. I know some will say they'll make it work and that is always the case but there will be some big cuts on their end and basically takes them out of FA so their team is basically their team without the draft picks.
The Eagles are already $63 Million OVER the cap for 2021. I know teams can manipulate the cap fairly easily, but damn. Adding Clooney to THAT? Good times.
The Eagles are ~$50.7 mil over the projected cap for 2021
I like OTC better but either way, not good. That's also probably not factoring in their draft picks and the fact that Kelce could retire meaning that it would cost them over a mil on the books.
Idk if they’re lookin that bad, if they cut Desean next year and pull Barnett’s 5th yr option, that’s 20 mill right there, not to mention if Kelce retires, and they cut Alshon and Malik Jackson, that’s another 38 mil right there.
They’d have a shit ton of dead cap, don’t get me wrong. But I’d rather them get Clowney, I don’t want to see Fournette or Adams on that team.
Adams would come free every time he decides to blitz, and Fournette would give them the ability to control the clock that they haven’t had the opportunity to since 2017.

Kelce retiring hurts their cap next year.
Not to mention, it hurts their football team. Regardless of cap implications, we should ALL be hoping Kelce retires. He’s a fantastic, All Pro player that will be very tough to replace.
Signing anyone they trade for to long-term deal would be very challenging. Most of these trade targets have made it clear that they are looking for a new contract. Can’t imagine they would be too happy with the trade and no deal.
Not that Yannick or Clowney are bad. Theyre good, very good at times. But they're not worth fretting about. Two or three seasons down the road, in other words by the time this team is legitimately contending again (assuming the Judge rebuild takes) they'll be looking to get out of any deal with Clowney or Ngakoue.

I’d have to disagree on the Yannick sentiment, just because he’s the closest thing the NFL has to Osi Umenyiora right now. He wrecks games with his turnovers and I don’t think there’s another edge defender in the league with his combination of fast twitch get off and hand fighting, plus he’s only 25.
The arrow on Ngakoue’s potential is way higher than Clowney imo.

Gotcha, there’s some other movable contracts on the team like Marquise Goodwin, and not to mention if they restructure Brandon Brooks due to all the injuries, extensions etc.
Our only hope to beat them is if our young players come along and our team is just flat out better than them, but regardless, I believe that they will continue to be a good team for at least a couple more years.
that marriage makes a lot of sense. Hopefully it's next years 1st, but I could see Jax being desperate enough to do a 2nd.
I doubt that. Jax is incredibly stubborn. And you’d have to think if they suddenly decide to settle for a 2nd, there are a ton of teams that could and would offer much higher 2nds than the Eagles. The Eagles 2nd is likely to be pretty late in the round.
Oh please. You sound like some of the eagle fans who love to hate wentz. He’s a good qb no matter how some of you slice it. We should have their problems at qb.
surprise anyone with outlandish immediate moves, but if they do set themselves up for cap hell in 2021, I suspect they'd find a way to wriggle out of it.
They do have a number of ageing vets to cut loose, and having drafted Jalen Hurts in the 2nd round this year, and rumors Wentz isn't liked in the locker room, and Pederson's love of the RPO...
MAYBE they'll decide to trade Wentz? Maybe they're already considering that if he gets hurt again in '20? Or if he lays an egg in the playoffs again? Wouldn't that alleviate a ton of cap space?
Nothing that team does would surprise me.
I too think Adams is a more likely target, but maybe Clowney on a 1 year prove it deal?
spent a lot of years in Philly so maybe Adams is in play. It seems more likely it will be for a pass rusher.
The Eagles go as the running game goes. Losing Brooks was a huge hit to that effort. They also lost the the very good back up who has filled in nicely during Free Agency. Cox did not have a great year last year so maybe he is slowing down.
I think they may realize this year may be their last best shot.

Not at all. If they cut or traded Wentz all his prorated money would get accelerated and that is approximately 45 mil. So, no, they won't be doing that.
Reminds me of a Bug Bunny cartoon with Little John keep saying "Don't you worry, never fear, Robin Hood will soon be here"..
You've been hearing the Eagles in cao hell for 15 years? This is like the first time. Roseman does a great job with that team. Cowboys? Yes. Eagles. Not really. And Dallas hasn't won shit and had to let go of some really good players like Byron Jones so they can sign Cooper to a 100 mil deal. Don't confuse a bad cap situation with sucking. Dallas has drafted well to help replace some of these players lost. Philly will have to make some decisions next year because of it.
can't sign so and so player. Every year. And every year, they sign so and so players.
And it doesn't even matter because both teams are way ahead of us as far as personnel, talent, skill positions,
The one thing I never get concerned with, is how another team is managing their resources. I worry about what they can do on the field
You are altering what you have said. The Eagles haven't been in cap hell for 15 years. The Cowboys have continually pushed the can down the road so to speak. And again they haven't won anything. That team has severely underperformed. All we heard year after year for like a decade is how talented the Cowboys are.
So, to your original point, no the Eagles have not been in cap hell for 15 years. And, yes, how they perform on the field is the most important aspect. The point being made about the Eagles is that they have a lot of holes on their team right now and they'll have to make moves to fix their cap meaning they are who they are right now and if we play this right can surpass them.
what I said was ever year, there is talk about the Eagles and Cowboys being in Cap Hell. That is what i posted. I never said they were in Vap hell, because they have never been

I don't agree with that at all. Cowboys? Yes. Eagles? No. Washington? Yes. And this isn't talk. Philly is in the worst shape next year, by far. And with the uncertainty this year and the effect on next year's cap it isn't a good position to be in. They'll figure it out but it will come at the expense of players. The point is they will not be improving their team in 2021. They are basically all in this year to get one more shot before they need to make decisions on players. Doesn't mean their window is closed. It just means the odds of them being better in 2021 are slim. The Eagles OL is also coming unraveled. It was such a strength of theirs. Peters is gone. They are trusting Dillard who wasn't impressive last year. They lost Brooks. Kelce is mulling retirement. Their LBs are worse than ours believe it or not. They weren't even that good last year. Nobody wanted to win the East last year. As bad as we are I don't feel like we are that far behind them. Dallas has more talent overall but McCarthy doesn't seem like the right coach for that team. And I hope they sign Dak to an extraordinary contract.
Not sure what part you don't agree with. I made a simple statement. Those 2 teams have been talked about being in Cap Hell for years. Maybe not 15, but since i've been on here, it's almost every year.
I don't tend to get into a debate about what other teams financial situation is. I really don't care, because we don't know what moves they canmake to alleviate it.
Bottom line, until I see them in cap hell, then I will know..

I'm saying I disagree with people saying the Eagles have been in cap hell for 15 years.
think we may have been talking past each other then. I agree with you then. The Eagles have never been in Cap hell, nor do I see them getting into one.
GM's are pretty smart these days. You really don't hear about teams unable t omake moves because of the Cap. I think teams are using cap friendly deals and cutting players 2 years into the contract..
The Cowboys also got lucky with how successful the NFL has been over the last 3 to 4 years. The cap has gone up significantly so all their cap problems weren't as bad as it could have been.
The Eagles are in a unique situation. 2021 is probably their worst cap situation since I have been alive or at least can remember and when you factor in that an NFL season may not happen and/or the revenue might not be as high as was once expected then it could be a rough year for them.
might be too strong of a phrase, but if you don't think the cap had an impact on Dallas's ability to make moves for a few years, then I don't know what to tell you. And they had a some very talented teams that could've been legit SB contenders with the right 2-3 players added.
Also, keep in mind that's after essentially hitting the lottery and getting bailed out by Prescott. While he's not a top 5 QB, if they didn't luck into an average+ NFL starter there, they would've stunk.

I hope you're not talking to me. I have said over and over that Dallas has been in a bad situation with the cap. I have repeatedly said Philly has not.
on having 2 consecutinve QB's who were draft picks, Romo was a UDFA if I remmeber correctly. That helps when you have about 4 years before you have to pay them..

No was talking to the other guy claiming the Cowboys (and Eagles) are never in 'cap hell'.
full of talent for years. It's been their inability to win big games. I don't recall any players that Cowboys needed or wanted that they didn't get. Eagles either

Good players help win big games and the Cowboys didn't (couldn't) sign any FAs for a couple seasons. IIRC, they had little to no room basically every season since ~2014 when they were forced to cut Ware. I think the only impact FA they signed during that time was Greg Hardy and that was an incentive laden deal (which backfired). And even when they finally had room last season, they had to conserve a lot of space for their own pending FAs (i.e. not enough room to add pieces to their core) and still lost B Jones
spent a lot of years in Philly so maybe Adams is in play. It seems more likely it will be for a pass rusher.

I think they may realize this year may be their last best shot.
Eagles have been the beneficiary of having outstanding offesnive line play where to can do simple things that move the chains. That includes enough time to make simple pass routes work, as well as make the running game work for even an average runner.
And then there's Wentz to bail them out when necessary.
That luxury will be gone (hopefully) in 2020 and they'll need to rely on Wentz even more. Which will result in a lower rate of success, and ultimately maybe even injury for Wentz.

They have been the beneficiary of great line play on both sides of the ball. How do we know the luxury will be gone? They built those line by quality scouting and player development. Same with Wentz, quality scouting to trade up to get a quality qb (the best in the division at the moment) when a lot of the league was afraid to make the same move. I believe most of those scouts are still in the building, so I am not necessarily expecting the talent development to end because of free agency.
Would absolutely love for the Giants to be the beneficiary of quality scouting and player development. But we all know how that has gone over the past decade.
