Fans won’t be allowed to attend Eagles home games

US1 Giants : 7/14/2020 3:57 pm
this season.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has formally announced the city’s decision to prohibit all large outdoor events until at least Feb. 28

Has any other city cancelled events on such a long and wite wide scale?
doesn't really matter who else has done it

That seems like a really big deal. They already know, can predict, fear... for the next 7+ months?! Grim.
Double benefit

Prevents potential spread at the games themselves, and also really cuts down on the population and allows better distancing in city jails. Pretty sharp Mr. Mayor.

That's a fair question. But at least the sound guys can pump in recorded cheers when visiting players suffer career-ending injuries.

They are technically exempt from what the city just announced, but the article linked in the OP does say the city has told them they expect them not to have fans.

The city has been in communication with the Eagles, said Managing Director Brian Abernathy, and has “told them our expectations are that they don’t have fans.”
Aw shucks! I was gonna open a hazmat suit rental concession there.

Grin.
They can lift that order if there's good reason to.

But at least everyone's on notice that they're not screwing around and that Philadelphia doesn't want to be the next Houston or New York.

I suspect that date was chosen to permit a VERY gradual reopening once new cases fall far enough. Bars, restaurants, indoor sports and concerts are probably last, big outdoor events, maybe a little sooner. Maybe. You probably won't see that until office buildings are open (in some form) and trains are running at 50% capacity without a spike in cases. That could take a while.

Not a fan, but a fan of the opposing team, can you go? You wouldn’t have to worry about all the asshole Eagles fans throwing shit at you!

Sarcasm off😂😂
I'd have guessed that they
mrvax : 7/15/2020 1:49 pm : link
would just not allow Eagle fans to attend. Weird.
whether you agree or disagree...
BillKo : 7/15/2020 2:33 pm : link
...why would you exempt the one thing that contradicts what they purpose of mass gatherings can result in?

Eagles are exempt why? Because it's once a week? LOL
Won't stop the Eagle Fans

From throwing beer cans at the opposing team fans and buses. I could see them gathering outside the stadium, and being really pissed at not being able to go inside.
