From what I read, he was tested 2 days ago, practiced yesterday with his teammates, & got his results today. Wouldn't that mean his teammates need to be tested ASAP?

Yea this is bad but MLB has to be anticipating things like this happening multiple times throughout the year. Lets see how they react, if at all

They likely were tested at the same time as his test? He's asymptomatic, so he wasn't looking for a test.
It's an essential business connected with health care, running 24/7. They can't shut down or go to full work-from-home, though they have some people on WFH. She will be on work-from-home once she's trained, but that's mid-October.
Someone on the graveyard shift tested positive for the virus. So everyone in the office had to be tested. Then everyone stayed at home, those who can work from home did, until the results came back. (My wife was negative.)
The test nominally has 24-48 turnaround, and they had the results in around 30 hours -- next day, basically.
MLB is going to need something at least that fast and once someone's been in a clubhouse with the virus, they're going to need to test everyone exposed for a while. Considering what a mess testing is right now, that's difficult.
But, to quote Godfather II: Difficult, not impossible.
I predict the season is going to be chaotic, but it won't end. In some ways, it'll be like a barnstorming tour. Some teams will shut down for two weeks, some won't. Some games will get moved around, as if it rained for a week. (Much easier to do when no fans are going to games.) Some teams will have played 30 games when others have played 15. But there will be games on TV and in the end, they'll get to some kind of playoff tournament.
It'll be nuts, it won't be anything like what we're used to, but it'll be baseball.
i dont think it'll be anywhere near that drastic. The show goes on... as it is for the Nationals tonight, right? Agreed it will be chaotic, frustrating for fans of teams doing well that suddenly lose a great player, and there will be a huge asterisk next to the winner... but players get paid and can feed their families and as fans, its still a lot better than nothing.
In some ways this announcement is good in that it will get more players to wear masks in the field or when they are on the bases. Kind of a wake up call for some that are still anti-mask.
Said that he tested negative on a rapid test immediately following his positive test so they aren’t even sure whether he had/has it for certain. And that is another issue. These tests aren’t exactly 100% accurate, either way.

the problem is tests pick up other coronaviruses in the system..
cleared by MLB protocol. Not cleared by local Washington DC DOH yet, which would still subject him to 14 day quarantine.
Seems like a pretty strong likelihood of a false positive on this one given zero symptoms and that all other tests (including a rapid test administered on the same day as the positive) were negative.

There are two types of tests. The antibodies test looks for past infections.

are infected, and we'll see Covid-19 cases flare up in the Yankees locker room within 10 - 14 days?

All of these leagues are going to play and finish, there is WAY too much money at stake.
