The NFLPA told players tonight 12 rookies have tested positive for COVID-19 leaguewide in the initial round of screening, per source.
Those are results from the nine NFL teams that have gotten back results from their initial round of screening.
The NFL knew there would be positive tests. Their plan is to isolate those cases and prevent spread through robust testing, contact tracing and education.
Same here, with our luck I was expecting our entire draft class to test positive.
Even if 12 is a good number per team, it is 9 teams not 32. Only 9 have been accounted for.

(not sure if that's right, but approximately), times 30 teams or whatever it is - that's close to 400 rookies. 12 does not seem like a high number in that context. But I may be wrong and certainly have no expertise.

My first reaction was what Del said but, only 9 teams reported in? Wow - higher than I would have thought. If you carry out to an average (I am not good at math) but that is about .... 41 for the league?
You have to think it’s just for having the virus. It wouldn’t be helpful if it just gave them a positive for virus or antibodies.
They are not going to let players play - or even interact with their teams other than virtually - once they test positive. IE, players will be quarantined after testing positive at any time.
At what point do you think the # of quarantined players make any particular team a joke? This is a very tricky question, and IMHO could possibly shut down the season.
The fact that a vast vast majority of young healthy men will get over a Covid-19 infection just fine doesn't address the question of how to deal with a rampant infection rate, or even a moderate one.

Since there is a 99.96% chance that the players will be fine, I can't see why they would cancel it.

I guess it could get to the point where too many of a team's roster is positive to field a complete unit. Would the team forfeit two weeks while the players are quarantined? Also, I didn't take into consideration that a lot of the linemen are obese. That could lead to complications if they contract the bug. Things might get messy.
Also it does not mean they are out 2 weeks, they have test negatove twice doesnt necassarily mean 2 weeks..
