NFT: Seattle Kraken Expansion Draft

Mike in NY : 7/27/2020 7:03 pm
Capfriendly.com has a fun Simulator of the Seattle Kraken Expansion Draft. I did the Quick Protect which has the site choose protected players. Either it needs some tweaking or I just got lucky, but I ended up with one hell of a team. Unfortunately most who published their mocks didn’t comply with Salary and/or required players under contract for 2021-2022. I am enjoying my top line of Konecny-Draisaital-Point.
Draisaitl and Point?

lol.

The Athletic did have a decent article projecting the expansion draft last week. They had a local beat writer for each team do the protected list.

The team did look good though. Better than Vegas IMO, but I thought Vegas would be historically bad and they went to the SCF, so shows how much I know.

I thought Vegas had a team of 3rd liners but really deep on D and inconsistent in net. Their 3rd liners proved to play over their career potential - Karlsson, Marchessault, Tuch, etc. and MAF played out of his ass.

Anyway, link is below for Athletic subscribers.

I told you the metric needs work. I decided to publish it because I did comply with the rules unlike most I had seen. If anyone is interested I would be happy to cut and paste my team.

Sure, let's see it. And I do think they can get a decent team based on projections I've seen.
Here it is

For all to comment. The most difficult part was getting 20 Contracts for 2021-2022 not counting RFA.

does Vegas get a pass on this draft or do they lose a player?

There is no way the Capitals do not protect Samsonov. Even if they win the cup this year they couldn't resign Holtby.

Draisaitl? Rantanen? None of these players will be exposed. That site lets you select McDavid.

It's a fun thing to do fitting the salaries in the cap, but not realistic for players being exposed.
Most of those names will be protected

But I bet they follow the Vegas model and take as many defensemen as possible and then work some trades to fill out the team.
