As much as I hate the WFT, I am really happy for Alex Smith. Considering what he has endured, not only coming close to losing his life, much less his leg, he now has the opportunity to "compete" for the starting QB job.
It's a truly remarkable story and it's hard not to root for the guy.

True, and I honestly don't really even see him playing, but I'm more impressed just by the guy's desire and drive to rehabilitate and get back to this level...esp at 36.
+1.
Best of luck

Would best case for the Giants be a QB comp that is back and forth with no clear winner. They pick Smith and Haskins has a complete melt down? Smith plays adequate and retires at the end of the season. WFT is then left searching for their QB of the future again???
They have the room now to absorb the dead cap hit and if the cap does drop to $175M or there abouts next year, his $10M dead cap hit might hurt worse then.
At least something for them to think about.
I wouldn't be surprised if Rivera turns into a GM/Coach. They have a lot of FO vacancies with scandals and departures.
Smith is a seson vet, been around quite a few teams with various offenses. he'll adapt a lot faster then Haskins..
You can't help but root for the guy because he's worked his ass off, but I wish he wasn't doing this. He's got a beautiful wife and kids. He doesn't need to go back on the field. He's been thru enough.
Made me lol.

I saw that documentary too. It is truly amazing he is even back on the field. His leg was a disaster, and I am putting that mildly.
People with pilon fractures are lucky to walk without a limp. There's no way this dude's playing again.

Well said ... Haskins is the future for the Redskins and Alex should take 1 snap in practice to cap his recovery and call it a career. You can’t buy health.
Seems like a win that he can even walk after that injury. Would be amazing if he could play again but I don't see it happening.
