My understanding is Markus Golden has informed #NYGiants he will be reporting to camp soon and ultimately jump into the first round of COVID-19 testing protocols while also signing his tender, a source confirmed.

@NYPost_Schwartz says Golden had personal matters to finish up.
Nice!

According to OTC, Golden

with make about $5.1 million this year.

So, that is a good reason to report.

I don't think there was ever any questions. After the Giants tagged him it came out that there was no bad blood between Golden and the Giants. Obviously, Golden wants more money but he seemed to enjoy his time here. The Giants wanted him back. By tagging him it didn't stop any team from pursuing him not him contacting teams. This is a great outcome for the Giants and him. He gets another opportunity to prove himself to the league and the Giants get a much needed pass rusher, good locker room guy, and a player with a chip on his shoulder. I'm glad to have him back.

for all the crap Dave gets, I think he played this one pretty well.
I'd argue

that had this strange tender not been applied to him he would make even less. No teams reached out (atleast for what he was looking for) and because the Giants were somewhat bound to this 1 year salary, they couldn't low ball him.

Dude had 10 sacks last year. Without the tag imposing negative comp pick consequences on another team that signed him, he would have made at least what the Giants are paying elsewhere. At least, he would have in any ordinary year. Hard to say how COVID-19 would have played into other teams' reasoning.

For what he would have gotten there would not be a comp pick. There are only 32 awarded. Plus any team could have had him for $6 mill. I think he did not impress enough last year to earn a "long term" deal.

To have him back also. With him, Fackrell, Ximines, Carter, Martinez, Brown, and Coughlin we will get to the QB, more then expected, then add in Peppers, McKinney, Williams, Hill, Tomlinson, and Lawrence. There is more talent this year, we made smart additions, there are no stars here, but there is youth, talent, competition and opportunity, and a new coaching staff, if we play a full schedule, this team is going to get 40 sacks.

If the Giants new set of CBs and S McKinney this year don't play a heckuva lot better than Jenkins, Baker, Haley and Bethea played last year we'll be lucky to get 20 sacks as a team.
