Stroman going “full tilt” in bullpen sessions. Needs to clear an MRI before he can return. Peterson expected to start again next Sunday.
Would be nice to get him back. Give us some SP depth in case Porcello keeps pitching batting practice.
To replace him, they called up Ryan Cordell from Brooklyn.
To clear 40-man roster space, the Mets designated RHP Jordan Humphreys -- a recent surprise 40-man add -- for assignment.
Is the gun a little hot? Does Eovaldi hit 98 normally?

deGrom sitting 99-101

That was the issue with Eovaldi. He throws gas but it is supposedly very straight. There's no movement at all.
He does tonight. If it makes you feel better, Statcast is supposedly at least a mph faster than before it was implemented. So all readings have been up a hair in the last few years.
Rivera sucks defensively too.

Whatever you say, chief.

I liked what I saw out of Cordell, glad to see him get a chance

Jacob deGrom has recieved a no-decision in 33.5% of his 173 career starts.
He has a 2.61 career ERA.
Night all. Take the series tomorrow!
Familia and Diaz are both on just 2 appearances.
Hopefully Rojas gets a handle on the pen because it's going to be the key to the season. That was the one area where it would have been a lot more comforting to go with someone like Girardi who has done it before. He has been quick to adapt with Cano moving down the batting order though and I love that he got Gimenez a start in the first week. So I think there is hope he doesn't just repeat the same mistakes over and over again or just try random stupid shit like Callaway used to.
After Conforto’s DP, which I can’t believe he didn’t beat out, I just had that feeling. You almost wonder if it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy that Mets don’t score for Jake and Cost him wins. It’s so overhyped, maybe guys are thinking about it
Here's a hypothetical - if JDG pitched 8 shutout innings and had a 1 run lead, who do you think he'd choose to pitch the 9th inning? My money is on the guy who closed out both his wins vs. the LAD in '15 as well as his win vs. the CHC. And probably 20-30 other wins of his between 2014-2018.
I’m really unimpressed with the bullpen so far. Seems overhyped.

Such a small sample size, but it’s sucked so far. Tough night with Atlanta and washington winning
I only get to see snippets on the MLB channel. They showed DeGrom and Rene Rivera eyeballing each other in the dugout after that Wild Pitch/Passed Balled allowed a run to score.....did Rivera just punch his ticket out of town ??
