way this works is if they take a day off test and then plow through it bringing people up as they go they cant cancel 5 games everytime someone gets sick or they have no chance
of having teams play with their minor leaguers/alternate site players yet again. What was the point of 60 man player pools exactly?
Guys still arent masking on the field or in the dugouts - Red Sox had a few mound visits in the 8th inning last night with 5 guys standing within two feet of each other - so this obviously just isnt working.

Totally agree whats the point of these protocols of no one is following them?
its why looking at the Korean League success was a stretch
we just don't play the game the same way. Add in the differences in geography and culture and its just not close.
The bigger difference between the US and Korea is obvious IMO. Korea has had the virus under control for a while due to an aggressive and smart response. Any outbreaks there have been on a scale orders of magnitude smaller than what's going on in the US.
The MLB protocols (and adherence to them) are far from perfect, but when the virus is running wild with unacceptably high levels of infection throughout large portions of the country as we head into August, it's just difficult to travel around the country and avoid infection.
MLB has turned into a case study of how to lose the containment battle
simply combine:
1. A few knuckleheads engaging in behavior they shouldn't
2. More widespread noncompliance with established protocols
3. Poor decision making at leadership levels (the team vote, wtf?)
Several teams are obviously also succeeding and showing that success is possible - but it goes to show how everyone is in this together because this thing is contagious enough that a few people can ruin the ability to engage in more normal activities for everyone, even in the absence of symptoms.
Perhaps if both the players and owners spent 2-3 months seriously preparing for the protocols of the season like the NBA/NHL did instead of engaging in a PR battle via the press that ultimately ended in the same place as their March agreement, they wouldn't be in this situation. Manfred didn't seem to realize he had to lead the entire sport forward and not just negotiate on behalf of his side (owners). Even if he'd won the negotiation and gotten the owners everything they wanted, it wouldn't have done any good if the entire thing ended up getting cancelled.
hopefully the NFL is learning from MLB's mistakes and the NBA/NHL successes thus far.
Now they're saying if no additional Cardinals test positive
But this biggest issue is that the virus just isn't under control in this country.
The European soccer leagues and Asian baseball leagues are playing in countries where the virus is not eliminated, but much better under control. It makes playing more realistic.
As long as the virus is running rampant and teams aren't in a bubble, I don't see how this works.

It's not a requirement to mask while the game is being played ,in the dugout are supposed to

Not only are they not wearing masks, but players that do (i.e. Clint Frazier) were getting blasted for it.
in some states, but you have teams playing out of those states. To that end, MLB couldn't have puulled off a bubble. The two states suggested because of Spring Training facilities (FL, AZ) are among the worst. Additionally, to bubble and play in one or two locations is not as easy for baseball as it was for basketball. There simply aren't enough diamonds in a concentrated enough area that also contains housing for players and staff.

Yet the Phillies are being shut down again this weekend - who the fuck is in charge and what is the exact formula for playing / not playing?
To quote zoolander - I feel like I'm taking crazy pills...

Manfred is not a joke. stupid comment
that is your opinion so dont state it like a fact.
Personally I feel he's handled some pretty chaotic baseball issues remarkably well.
I think its pretty fucking lame how people always hate the commissioners of the leagues.

There is no basis to assume that, until a bunch of teams have a bunch of cases they will keep playing
