The New York Giants have officially claimed WR Tony Brown off of waivers from the Browns on Saturday. Brown wound up going undrafted out of Colorado back in April. He later signed a three-year, $2.28 million contract with the Browns. However, Cleveland waived Brown on Friday.
during his college career at Texas Tech and Colorado Brown caught 115 passes for 1418 yards plus 6 rushes for 33 yards with 8 touch-downs over 4 seasons/36 games
a 3 year $2.28 million contract for an UDFA seems like the Browns really liked him 4 months ago. wonder what changed. Link - ( New Window )

Considering the league minimum salaries for the 3 years (most UDFA contracts are that long), it isn’t an exceptional bonus.
They had his WR teammate Laviska Shenault as their #9 WR. He went in the second round to the Jags with a 4.58 40 time. Maybe Brown stood out when Shenault was being scouted?
Nothing to lose. Might as well take a look.
, but He's standing behind defensive backs, he's making contested and physical Catches and Full Layout Catches. He's physical and he's a heck of a Football Player. Physical and skillful makes for a Good Flyer Pickup
Seem to be looking more at this type of receiver presently over 6” with limited speed but good route running skill set. He is also from a school with big name other WR but he produced good numbers as not the main guy. He has some wiggle to his game but seems more slot than outside big legs but thin up top and consistently no real separation to his game even at the collegiate level.

He looks very good running reverses. Could be a hybrid type player. Even in the highlights he wasn't getting separation deep.
