day 1 halfway done. Figured I''d start a thread for not just the Rangers games.
Rangers and Canes were rusty on specials (though CAR looked much better), 1 for 14 combined on the PP. Good intensity though, hard hitting game. I thought Hank was great.
I didn't see any of NYI vs FLA, but the score is about what I'd expect from a Trotz team.
PIT came out like a house on fire, Price stood tall and MTL's two youngsters, Kotkaniemi and Suzuki have the Habs with a 2 - 0 lead. momentum is starting to shift to MTL, but PIT can score quickly. MTL defense is a massive Achilles heel.

All six members are receiving “First Team” honors for the first time in their career. The only other time that happened was 1930-31, the first year of NHL All-Star Team selections. #NHLAwards

Last game for Steven Stamkos was Feb 25th (before core surgery) - that's 208 days since his last game. If he plays in this series, it will be the longest gap in modern era (1967) for any player prior to playing in SC Final.

Fox came in fourth in Calder voting.
Yeah, I posted the voting above - he was the only one other than Makar and Hughes to get a 1st place vote.
Nick Suzuki is underappreciated.
Ah, missed that, sorry.
Suzuki blew me away in the playoffs.

want to know who the hero who voted for Adam Fox is twitter.com/wyshynski/stat…
@WPGMurat
I voted for Adam Fox.
I leaned on a) his extreme impact on shots and chances at both ends of the ice and b) NYR's disorganized defence compared to VAN and COL.
I think Fox's impact was wildly impressive given team context and I didn't drag him much for his TOI or point total.
No Schenn or Bogosian.
sort of A cappella
TBL up 1 - 0
TBL to the PP, stupid penalty by Oleksiak
2 - 0 TBL, another PP goal
Much akin to my portfolio after today.
15 seconds of 4v4 then DAL to the PP
DAL back to the PP
DAL back to the PP
Sorry Coleman was the victim, Gourde gets the 2min sticking up for Coleman. Gourde looked like a little kid going after Oleksiak.
Klinberg makes quick work with the goal off the faceoff. Maybe tipped by Pavelski.
3 - 1 TBL

I think Fox was a distant third of the three dmen, but I’m glad he gave his reasoning.

Dom Luszczyszyn defended his decision to leave Draisatl, Carlson, and Coultier off his ballots for Hart, Norris, and Selke respectively. I thought it was an interesting read.
I think people make too much of some of the weird outlier votes - I totally missed DeAngelo getting a Norris vote, for example. Although I disagree with some of the winners, none of them were insane.

And the golf outing stuff sounded like a pain in the ass.
As someone who has gone on long-term travel (2 months in Australia for example) it seems like a first world problem, but eating out at the same places gets tiring every night, but definitely an inconvenience more than a major problem.
Tony D actually got three votes. I saw Tony D respond on Twitter to Greg and I loved it - I like his twitter persona even though it may be his ticket out of NY.
@wyshynski
Folks ... Drew Doughty and Tony DeAngelo hit the ballot.

Greg i only got 1 4th place votes and 2 5ths. The world isn’t ending. It’s going to be ok! Also drew doughty down year or not he’s still one of the best. Little more respect for him no??

Not only that, you were on my colleague @lindacohn

I didn't think you nor Drew had a Norris worthy season. I was surprised you hit the top five. Others felt otherwise. That's why 171 of us vote.

Thank you @lindacohn
! You know more than your colleague Greg, that’s for sure.
And again, the NHL up against reality TV can't get a prime time game.
I think TB is the better team this series, but Dallas really turned it on after the first.
Yeah, he's a dick. I love that TDA called him out.

A source very close to me has stated that #Penguins GM Jim Rutherford is heavily interested in #Blackhawks
defenseman, Duncan Keith, if the Matheson deal falls through.

Per Penguins source, the reason for the trade holdup:
The Penguins have been unable to reach Patric Hornqvist to make sure he approves the trade to Florida.
Game 3 of the Stanley Cup after 6 months off.
Not sure what to expect, but if he's a shell of himself good for TBL bad for DAL (captain obvious?)
1 - 0 TBL
TBL up 2 - 0
Lighting go nuts.

Looked like Khudobin lost his net there a little, was hugging the post
I feel like TBL has seized the momentum, they are as complete a team I can remember since the Oilers or Islanders dynasties.
They'll have some cap issues to deal with, but they are stacked all over the lineup.
Dallas a solid all around team too, but seems like Khudobin might be turning into a pumpkin, see if he can regain the magic tomorrow night.

Yeah, Dobbie looked a little sluggish out there. I'm a little concerned about the back-to-back games this weekend and really don't want to see Bishop back in but who knows. Maybe that's what they need

kind of a dud so far as SCF goes, though game 2 ending was good.

I didn't follow DAL goalie situation this year, was Bishop hurt or did he just lose his job?
If healthy, isn't Bishop the better goalie (playoff performance of Khudobin (where he was fantastic until the past couple games) notwithstanding)
TBL: I did not believe their team could play the physical game as well as they have. Most astonishing (to a NYR fan) is to see McDonagh and Shatt doing it, and doing it well. Hedman is so all-around, the backliners don't make a lot of mistakes in their own end, Sergachev, yes (some stinkers v Bruins), but really young. Kuch, Pointe, and Palaat... Killorn, Marroon, Goodrow, Paquette, and Coleman are just so tough in the corners and along the boards, no quarter given, complementary glue for the talent.
She's no spring chicken (39--that's robbing her from the cradle for me (:), but she looks really good.
More to the point of MSNBC's coverage: she's poised, articulate, knows the game well enough, quick with transitions, interjections and questions that keep the studio flow running smoothly, she drives that bus. I don't see one hint of condescension from Sharp, Jones, Carter, etc.

she's great at her job and yes, attractive, but physically too tall IMO. I never realized it until last draft lottery when I saw her towering over Jack Hughes. I think she's 5' 10" at least.
