day 1 halfway done. Figured I''d start a thread for not just the Rangers games.
Rangers and Canes were rusty on specials (though CAR looked much better), 1 for 14 combined on the PP. Good intensity though, hard hitting game. I thought Hank was great.
I didn't see any of NYI vs FLA, but the score is about what I'd expect from a Trotz team.
PIT came out like a house on fire, Price stood tall and MTL's two youngsters, Kotkaniemi and Suzuki have the Habs with a 2 - 0 lead. momentum is starting to shift to MTL, but PIT can score quickly. MTL defense is a massive Achilles heel.
I think Mete's days are numbered. When you're supposedly a puck mover speed guy and you get beat in a foot race, you aren't really a puck mover.
Pens lead 3 - 2 halfway through the game
4 min left in the 2nd.
Pens D are as bad as the Habs
nope, cross bar

I thought it was in real time and was wondering why the ref didn’t blow the whistle lol
like the pace of this game. it's a track meet. no D. lol.
he is so inconsistent, he's Hasek one day then can't stop a beach ball the next.
but he has 2 rings.

And Lundqvist and Price have zero. We don’t deserve this.

Well they didn't play behind Crosby and Malkin either.
but I agree.

True. This weird draft lottery had me thinking of 05. Rangers had the same number of ping pong balls as the Penguins, IIRC. Sucks.
9 or 10 overall wouldn’t be shabby in this draft (with Montreal chicago and Arizona potentially not in this lottery)
them or the Rangers. The Rangers got pretty fortunate to get Kakko up from 6 (?)

Doesn't it feel like they'll end up with Lafreniere? That fucking horseshoe organization. It'll be like the Patriots winding up with Trevor Lawrence.

Nice try. Rangers and Kakko haven’t done a thing yet with that. Loads of teams over the years have jumped a few spots up the draft - like Edmonton and NJ, for example.
Those Pittsburgh jumps landed them 3 cups
He's flopping around like a fish.
And he has 2 rings.
Draisaitl's 2nd of the game ties it at 2.

Once. Once! We were only lucky in the Lottery once.
I understand Rangers fans bitterness b/c the Pens are a rival and the Rangers were one of the other 3 teams, and Crosby's Penguins have won 3 cups, but they had the same chance at Crosby as three other teams. And the league would have been better off overall if Crosby wound up in NY.
Unless you think it was fixed there wasn't much ping pong ball luck and it doesn't make much sense for the league to fix it for PIT and pin the hopes of Crosby pulling the team out of a financial mess.
And Staal was only one pick behind Kopitar.
And from what I have observed and read not a ton of difference between 9 and 15. Maybe 9 and 13, but most people have players 4 - 15 or so interchangeable.
I don't think it was fixed. It's pure luck. The Penguins are a lucky fucking organization. From Lemieux and Jagr to Crosby and Malkin.

So I looked for this information and couldnt find... the Rangers might pick 15th? Common sense would dictate that the 8 teams would simply draw evenly for that #1 slot and then after that you pick by order of standings, much as they did for the worst 7 teams (e.g., Detroit wasnt at risk to pick 7th)... thats not the case??

this year. #1 or somewhere between 9 and 15.

I believe the Rangers draft pick ranges from 9-14 (assuming they don't win the #1 overall pick). We should be rooting for the Canadiens (over Yinz), Blackhawks (over Oilers), Wild (over Canucks), and Coyotes (over Predators)

This guy has a good chart, MAB

As a Rangers fan, would be great if MTL, ARZ and CHI can close out their series... we'd move up to #11 at worst. As a hockey fan, i think its just plain absurd that MTL and CHI were given a best of 5 chance to amend what had been pretty horrendous 70 game regular seasons for them....
the Pens got Guentzel back, that should have been consolation enough for them playing one of the worst teams in the league.
CHI has a better shot to get there though. The West is wide open, some good teams - right now my favorites would be COL and CAL, but CHI has a shot to come out of the west because no one has a complete team IMO.

The Pens are the better team outside of the goalie, but the Habs have impressed.
Gallagher is much better than I remember.
Other than Price the Canadiens best players have been Suzuki, Kotkaniemi and Weber.
and it's good to see Kotkaniemi have a solid return after a disappointing year.
Letang is a shell of his former self, Dumoulin is mediocre as always, Jack Johnson is cooked, Pettersson is bad, Schultz surprises me, he had a couple good years, I'm surprised if he's healthy he's this bad.
Their best D is John Marino.
Knights need a PP QB and a RHD badly. They have no one on that side. Deangelo is obviously one of the best offensive defensemen in the NHL.
Rangers need a 2C and would get a young prospect in Glass or Krebs. Rangers were really high on Glass in the 2017 Draft. Glass had a banged-up rookie season, though, so I'd prefer Krebs.
I will take a "Glass" on this team any way we can get one...

Murray was trash last night, too.
This is far from a playoff team.
None of us knows the truth, but I always thought Suzuki was a better prospect than Glass, so I doubt that's true, but those are the rumors.
Granted, MTL also got a 2nd round pick and Tomas Tatar from LVG, not just Suzuki, but I don't know if TDA gets it done for Glass. I prefer Krebs though even though he's smaller. Such a strong skater.
Some headhunting going on...
They just got done showing Fiala almost die and I felt a little bit bad for him, but what a douche bag.
This game is great, these teams seem to hate each other.
