I knew that there were false positives, but apparently the nasal swabs can give a substantial amount of false negatives as well. It depends on the stage of infection and just random chance that the swab does not come in contact with infected cells. Link - ( New Window )
are going to try to control people being infected. The reality is that some will not avoid the virus. Expect revolving rosters throughout the season.
I wish they would have played quite a few less games with more space between them. Could have worked with the networks to expand prime time games. Shorter season and expanded playoffs. Then maybe they could have had short periods of creating "bubbles" where players and staff were isolated while giving them time off between games.

A general rule of thumb to get past false results (either + or -) is to perform repetitive assays. Typically 3 times. How you then decide to judge conflicting assay results depends on your goals of testing in the first place. If academic, you would probably perform more (and/or alternative) assays to ascertain the "truth".

I tested negative twice before testing positive on the third time (3 tests within 2 days). My doctor said he was 99% sure I had it, hence why he kept ordering test after test. He found it pretty common to get false negatives last I spoke with him (months into the pandemic)
Every team should carry a Wuhanese pangolin on staff
