Brendan Smith was a 4th line forward for half the season and is now playing big minutes. Deangelo passes the puck very well but holy crap he cannot defend to save his life. Marc Staal is Marc Staal.
Thankful they got a chance to play some big games like this, it'll be good for the young players. But Carolina is just the deeper and far better team. It is what it is. The defense needs to vastly improve
On of his biggest mistakes was not starting Shestyorkin. If nothing else, Igor would benefit from the playoff experience. Lundquist has not been terrible, but he has been good for at least one soft goal every game. That won't cut it against Carolina...

I don't know, TBH, because it seems like Igor is hurt. How badly? No one knows for sure. But yes, he should be out there.
And BTW, Georgiev is the second best goalie on this team. He should've gotten the nod if Igor couldn't go.
RE: I continue to be really unimpressed with David Quinn
Igor was in net. He seemed to elevate the play of the whole team. If he really is hurt fine, but if he pissed off the coach and is being punished Quinn needs to be fired
And when it's Mrazek in the other net, that's one sad state of affairs.
I didn't think the second goal was great considering Hank wasn't screened at all, but there's been one truly soft goal in two games. Mrazek has had a nice night, but the difference is what Carolina is able to throw out there on defense and in their bottom 6 versus what we've got. Keep in mind Dougie Hamilton isn't even in there, probably a top 20 defenseman in the league.
Georgiev is the second best goalie on the team, but I don't think that's been the difference. Carolina is shutting us down 5 on 5 and wearing out our defense with the forecheck.
The good news is we've got the top end forward talent that we never had during Hank's career. Now need to fill in around it
Giving Hank one last shot I guess. And he hasn't been bad, I don't think you can pin this on him. But obviously he's not capable of stealing anything the way he used to
I think they could lose Trouba for the hit on Williams.

They need to score here at least once
TDA that time (and Smith)
Third goal on Cytil and DeAngelo

They also hit a couple of posts and Mrasek made a couple of nice glove saves.
That last shot too. Almost went in
I agree

Laviolette would be a great hire for this team

Is the difference right now
