Hasn’t he had countless concussions,
Big Blue '56 : 8/3/2020 5:18 pm : link
or am I thinking of someone else who plays TE?
56 you're right

he's been oft-injured for sure
That's a great spot for him and smart signing by the 49ers.

Going to suck that John Lynch is going to be the GM there a long time. Of course people were probably saying the same about Reese once upon a time.
He's so irrelevant.

I'd rather sign Tony Gonzalez.
Best TE corps in the league now

Too bad for them the season isn't going to happen
He was a beast for the Washington team

before the injuries and concussions hit. Hasn't played a 16 gamne season in years. But he's played in that offense before. Good fit for him.

He stays health, they got a serious weapon. Question is, can he stay healthy..
Imagine being the 49ers

and having your window open right now with COVID? It's tough being a Giants fan right now, but to waste a year of a great team right now? Ugh. This is what 1987 must've felt like.

At this point in his career, this signing is the equivalent of the Pats signing Jake Ballard.

I really wouldn't look at it as a reflection of Lynch's aptitude. You could make an equally compelling argument that the signing is in bad taste knowing that Reed is one hit away from retirement.

I agree with the ‘bad taste’ view ... all this supposed concern about player safety and then sign someone with Reed’s history ... sometimes players need to be protected from themselves, and or their agents,
Reed should retire

His brain must look like a plate of scrambled eggs you dropped on the floor by now.

I think the 49ers usually make great moves- not sure this time

Reed has had so many concussions at this point putting him on the field is yes, his decision, he knows the risks, but just because he passes a physical, the long-term likely effects he will be dealing down the road no-one should have to deal with it.

Some things are more important than winning football games.

I dunno. The 1987 Giants opened 0-2 and looked like garbage. The strike buried them, but it’s not as if they were on their way to a repeat.

On that MNF opener when Phil drove us right down the field for a 7-0 lead against da Bears, I thought we picked up right where we had left off.

This was Tuna at his worst, imo..Unlike Gibbs et al, who took advantage of the “gimme” wins, BP pouted about it all and threw in the towel. We could have made the playoffs if we had “Gibbsed it,” instead Parcells was like a petulent child.

I am guessing he isn't good with money and needs the paycheck.

LOL, he never played a 16 game season. And he had one good year.
before the constant health issues

I thought he was the best non-Gronk TE in the league, or atleast neck and neck with Travis Kelce. He was truly an impact player. I feel so bad about how his career has played out. I kind of would prefer him to retire, but if he wants to keep trying to come back and make money doing it I can't blame him. Good luck.
This is criminal

I really wish that this guy would retire because he has suffered too much head trauma already.
