It's just for this season.
I guess theoretically, they could propose it in the future as a permanent change, but as far as I know there's no intention of doing that.
It's just a way to make it easier to get the games in since we're so boxed in by the calendar here and don't have a whole lot of room. Have to get games played and finished any way possible.
At first, it was another "ugh.. stop changing stuff" thing for me, but I understand this one. As long as it's 2020-only, it won't bother me.
