NFL Sunday Ticket DirecTV

ANTILLON82 : 8/3/2020 6:58 pm
Like every other year....the goal is to get NFL Sunday Ticket for free, I have been able to do it many years in a row, this year things are getting so hard with AT& T, they don't seem to care if I cancel my service or not. I would like to see if someone has been lucky this year. Please share your experience!
Idk
mpinmaine : 8/3/2020 7:06 pm : link
for some years I have seen stories on here of folks getting it for free. I have tried but have only receieved discounts.

I think I have read this is the last year of that format so maybe they don't care if we leave DTV.

I live in Maine so it is a must have for me.
ATT is losing so many subscribers that..
morrison40 : 8/3/2020 7:12 pm : link
They stopped marketing it and their cost structure must be prohibitive to doing any deals. I had a corporate discount and couldn’t get my cost below $120 / mo. Not worth it, I disconnected. In short, they need to squeeze as much profit as possible until they can find a buyer aka sucker.

For some reason I think it’s some sort of book keeping. I always have to pay. However, I land up getting like 50 dollars off my bill for 6 months and and free hbo for 12 months. This has been in the past. I haven’t called yet. When all is said and done I save more money by them giving me discounts than getting Sunday ticket for free.
Got it free PLUS $50 off my bill every month for 1 year

Call retention and ask nicely what they can do for you.

Yep, I was planning to move to Youtube TV. Called to cancel and I was seriously going to do it (this was not a drill and I already had YTTV set up on my android TV's). Got transferred to the "VIP" line, and they offered $60 off per month plus Sunday Ticket. This brought the costs basically in line, plus I have 311 channels and Sunday Ticket/NFL Network/Redzone.
If you pay these guys in advance this year

You're on crack.
AT&T is trying to dump direct TV

They have said once the NFL deal is over they will shut it down or sell it to Dish.

Wow! I gotta try again this year. I miss the ticket and I bought it for years even though I have season tickets. I got it discounted every year before AT&T and for free a few years ago. I called the last three years asking for a discount and they did nothing so I canceled it. AT&T is ruining what was once a great product.

So you called to cancel the entire service and they set you up with the Sunday Ticket for free? I might just have to do that. I’m to the point where I don’t care if I have DTV or cable, etc. anymore. The Sunday Ticket is the only thing they really have going for them and the pricing for their service has gotten out of control. My cable company is offering tv service, internet and a phone line for a little more than half of what I pay for a month of service from them.
I'm going to cancel Sunday Ticket
Gman11 : 8/4/2020 8:01 am : link
I'll find a way to watch Giants games. As for the others? I'd rather go outside and play.
I'll be dumping
Beer Man : 8/4/2020 8:27 am : link
Satellite TV the day after they stop offering NFL Sunday Ticket (or if the NFL ever makes the decision to let other sources carry it).
A little early still. I tend to make the call to DirecTV
LBH15 : 8/4/2020 8:40 am : link
mid to late August. Agree that if you keep call business like and friendly that they give it up.
I'm surprised the NFL isn't monetizing this in other ways
DavidinBMNY : 8/4/2020 8:47 am : link
Given the fact that so many people are not going to travel / go to games and there is no way everyone can logistically get directTV I'm surprised they aren't either offering game purchases or an out of zip code by a team pass.

Maybe they can not because of the existing contract/legalities but you'd think there's a way they could do it where everyone would win.

I received a notice that I would be receiving Sunday Ticket for free this year. I will still call and get them to discount my other services, but that is the first time that ever happened.

I would expect that once the contract is over with AT&T, the NFL will control their own destiny with streaming ala all of the other leagues. Since I am out of market, I just need to be able to get the Giants.
winback
ANTILLON82 : 8/4/2020 9:28 am : link
In other years, once you cancelled your account, there was a winback team by DirecTV who would call you to offer free NFL and discount, if someone getts those calls plase share the phone #, I have tryied using the ones from last year and they simply doesnt answer calls I have 4109192969 from last year.
Pay for the service you want
djstat : 8/4/2020 9:52 am : link
If your goal is to try and get something for free, it says a lot about your character. Your efforts to not pay for a service leads to the loss of jobs for many installers, technicians, producers and maintenance people.

If you want Sunday ticket, pay for it. If AT&T is not cooperating with your goal, it is because as new owners, they realized people like you milking the system taking a service they pay hundreds of millions of dollars for free.

Wait, so you should never negotiate a better price?

Please come to my store, I love people like you who pays list price....people are not losing jobs because of CUSTOMERS looking for better prices, If AT&T does not want to cooperate it will be Dish, Roku, YoutubeTV, Etc so they are losing jobs because they are also loosing customers! I'm currently paying 178 USD a month for TV, so I don't want it free, I already paid NFL ST in every months bill. All I want is to negotiate....do you have a problem with that?

Seems to me they can just say "no".

. Difference between negotiating a better price then openly trying to get the service for free. Don’t worry, you’d hate me as a customer. I built a business and have been in business for 20 years. I don’t negotiate and don’t discount. You want to go elsewhere, cool. But I won’t devalue my product to keep greedy happy.
Hey, don’t call us greedy.

Again.....my current bill is 178, so I don't want it for free, I wish it was for free but I'm paying a lot of money. Please pay full price, that way AT&T will have money enough to give it to me for a super price. somebody has to pay for the fix costs, i'm gladd it's you.

Just a tip at the way I do it, I get a $60 discount on my bill every month, I negotiate that every year in very early August, been getting this discount for years, I let them know how great a deal I would get from dish and the fioptics company as a new customer for 2 years, I am very friendly and let them know its the last thing I want to do, and that I am a long time great customer, I also tell them to remove the Sunday Ticket also to help get this bill down. Then the first of September I ask if they could offer me any discount and to check on any promotions they could offer me. I have got it free about 3 times, they always end up upgrading me and get me at least a 20-30 dollar a month discount for the 6 months you pay it, and usually throw in freeHBO for 3 months, I have done this method the last 3 or 4 years, before that I got discounts without a system, I have done better with this system. This year I already got my 60 dollar a month discount and hbo for 3 months and 10 dollars a month off the sports pack for 6 months. Those 2 I got without asking.
