that even the new guy is getting. Horrible umpiring. Cole even has had a couple true strikes called balls while Phillies continue to get balls well off the plate called strikes.
The rain will move quickly and they probably play the rest of this one late in the evening as long as the field isn't waterlogged or unplayable. It's a squall line that is with the front that is moving this tropical system up towards us tomorrow
Can't make a mistake against them. Gonna be a little tough to see at times these teams come in that have weak pitching like the sox and phils because they are gonna nibble away all night and throw nothing over the heart of the plate unless it's a mistake.
Luckily with no fans and the team off to such a good start, Sanchez' early struggles have been able to fly under the radar at least somewhat.
But, man.. he is lost.
I've never been an anti-Gary guy and always think he gets way too much grief from fans, but if he doesn't get going soon, the criticism is just going to keep getting louder.
Need him to pick it up.
The Yankees' ability to turn unheralded hitters around is peerless

Yup. Trouble with Gary is he’s either red hot or ice cold. Really no middle ground. He’s capable of hitting 5 HRs in a week. Then not hitting a fair ball for 2 weeks.
Sadly, he’s opened the season with the latter. Credit where due though, his defense has been solid so far

Agreed - happy with how he's looked behind the plate.
My hope is when Judge/DJ/Gio cool off, Gary will jump right into one of his hot streaks where he belts like 5 HR's in a week. As long as he's healthy, he'll come around.
Impossible, but I hope to not see this umpire behind the plate again. Makes Angel Hernandez look competent. Called at least one strike 6 inches off the plate. Outside corner moving pitch to pitch. Bottom of zone variable.
And what was happening with Sanchez in the dugout after the game? Looked like he was being attended to by the trainers.
Apparently Phil Hughes made a crack about Gardner's HR
Yankees
Phillies
Next Man Up!
I'm sure you are exhausted driving home from the beach..
No Problems.
;>)
Umpire called two strikes on Stanton that O'Neill and Coney were laughing at. I guess part of the new rules is a 22 inch wide plate....pitiful
Wow, you are not kidding.
That Gio Urshela.
Good lord.
Good lord.
yeah - I have no access to TV tonight, but if the gamecast was accurate at least two balls well outside were called strikes

That umpiring during Fordy's AB was abysmal, by the way.

He's been calling pitches well of the plate for Arrieta and Guerra. Cole was simply not getting the same.
But, man.. he is lost.

Thanks - just sitting here killing time in front of a blue screen.

Now he has an offspeed pitch with a nasty break. Cannot sit on the FB anymore. Like Chapman, the slider or curve is a game changer.

If I remember right he used to have a slider change combo when he first came up as a starter. His slider was never this good though. Glad he found it.
:)

Exactly. That was a Playmate home run.
Made it barely...
Yup.
