NFT: Tropical Storm Isaias

Jesus Christ!

Long Island looks like a warzone. This was worse than Irene. How's everyone holding up? Half my large maple tree is sitting on my front porch and I lost some siding. Power is still on thank God.

I should have known better. It's 2020. I shouldn't have taken this one lightly.
Sorry Danny,

Hope it gets better.
I had a tree branch drop right in my driveway.

I left to help my mom tie some shit down. Luckily I did otherwise my car would have been fucked.
I had an umbrella I
pjcas18 : 8/4/2020 5:41 pm : link
left open by my pool no idea how I forgot to close it and it was carried away by the wind (with the 10+ pound stand). Looked kind of eerie - like something you see out of the movie twister.

I don't know where it landed yet, hopefully nowhere that it could injure someone or something.

it was a lot stronger from a wind perspective than I was expecting. Eastern PA looks like they really got a ton of rain but maybe less of the wind.

Some of the gusts in my area were easily over 60MPH and probably 70 or higher.

Widespread power outages all over. I lost power around 12pm and it came back on around 5:15pm. I have no idea how but I am very greatful and thankful. I read on NJ.com that millions were without power statewide.

Lots of what I would call small and medium sized branches down in my immediate neighborhood. I didnt see a lot of large scale damage when I went out for gas. Some local road closures due to flooding. Once I got to the highway all the traffic lights were working and all businesses had their power on.

I can’t even drive to my house, power lines down in the street. We were heading to Cape Cod tomorrow but are just leaving tonight instead, no point trying to tough out a nights sleep in a hot/humid house.

Can you describe the umbrella? I may know the dope. lol.

I found the stand in my neighbor's yard, apparently it became separated just on the other side of my 6-foot fence, but no sign of the umbrella yet.

Like a good neighbor, I hope you split the cost for the window. Haha.
lol, I'll have to get
pjcas18 : 8/4/2020 6:12 pm : link
a legal ruling first.

the tree was unique, even though legally I wasn't responsible for the neighbors damage, half the tree (the remaining part) was still in the ground on my property. When the tree guy came to give him a quote it was x$ per tree ($800 maybe). We both wanted it gone, so it made sense.
I'm just busting balls.
robbieballs2003 : 8/4/2020 6:15 pm : link
You set that up on a tee. Someone had to take a swing and knock it home.
Oh
pjcas18 : 8/4/2020 6:46 pm : link
I know and I don't mind and I found the umbrella. It was about 100 yards away in a harmless place.

sorry jnoble, must be another dope out there.

It didn't even rain here. I have never seen a hurricane where the rain did not wrap around the center. I have never seen a cyclonic storm where the rain did not wrapped around.

Our weather guys said he had never seen that before. He was basically WTF?

Feel bad for the folks up North. Their house and utilities are not built for this weather.
TON of trees down here in my area - Chatham NJ
ChathamMark : 8/4/2020 8:06 pm : link
Almost every street. Power out for many. No power here, but have a generator/transfer switch. Taking off tomorrow, many big branches in my yard and the roof too.

I’m in Chatham Twsp. It’s a mess but not near as bad as Sandy was. Kick ass winds, lots of rain but power is back so I’m happy.

Nearby here they had 91 MPH wind gust and just offshore, 102.

We got rocked here fairly well, as most of us did not expect the storm to be as strong. Jim Cantore stationed/reporting at Wrightsville Beach on the coast was beaten up fairly well on TV for all to see. If you saw him last night sheltered and still affected by the winds/rain you can imagine what the rest of us here went through (85 MPH Hurricane).

I lost power just before 11 last night and it came back on right before (1PM today, actually 1258). I did spend the majority of today picking up debris/large branches, helping with a downed Bradford Pear tree. Probably got over 90% done.

So that's three hurricanes in three years (Florence 2018, Dorian 2019, and now Isaias in 2020)here in Wilmington, NC and the season isn't into the heart of the season as yet.

Anyone want to move down here and ride one of these out (maybe to satisfy a "bucket list entry?)????
Nothing here in Central Florida
Fred-in-Florida : 8/5/2020 8:18 am : link
1 squall line came thru. Wind gust for a few minutes then rained hard but not the normal daily rain storm more of a mist rain.

My son is in Meyersville. Had some branches come down but still doesn’t have power. Always seems whenever he loses power it takes days for PS & E to get to them and usually just turns out to be a transformer that needs to Be set.

Power is out for myself and half the county it seems, I wonder if crews from outside the area will come help, I don’t think they planned on this widespread outage. I had a 70 foot pine snap in half and just miss my house.

We got less than an inch of rain, some wind. Nothing destructive.

We could've really used more rain. Very dry summer.
We had rented a cabin in Canaan, CT
Matt M. : 8/6/2020 1:28 am : link
Got there Mon night. Tues morning got some groceries and the rain started on the way home. Heavy rain right away, but not crazy. Then one big gust of wind took down a tree onto the desk and pool, no more than 50 ft. from the house. About the same time power and cell service (only T-mobile) went out. Monday night was brutal. Besides no power, they used well water, so no water.

We had to drive about 2 miles away just to get cell service to get in touch with a few people. Couldn't get back to the house as they shut down the road for fire activity. After an hour of trying to find a back way in, we got back and packed. A 2.5 hour drive took over 4 hours with a ton of downed trees, downed power lines, and closed roads. At points we had no GPS. It was brutal. Thankful to be safe and home.
