Igor in goal tonight

As much as I think Igor may have made a difference...
BamaBlue : 8/4/2020 5:06 pm : link
I don't know if that would have translated into a win. Carolina is able to outworking the Rangers to the puck and out muscling them in front of the nets routinely... Lundquist certainly didn't stand on his head, but he got no help in front of him.
Rangers..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/4/2020 8:51 pm : link
controlling the pace of play and have more shots but can't break the ice yet
.
arcarsenal : 8/4/2020 9:01 pm : link
Absolutely, positively must score the first goal.

We will lose if we don't. Carolina is too good playing with a lead. The Rangers need to get them out of their element.
Rangers best period

of the tournament. Panarin two high danger chances, he doesn't miss many of those.

Kreider man!

There we go.
That's the way..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/4/2020 9:13 pm : link
to play on new ice!!
I think this
pjcas18 : 8/4/2020 9:18 pm : link
may be coming back.

but holy shit talk about puck possession.
.
arcarsenal : 8/4/2020 9:18 pm : link
Ugh. Knew that was coming. We couldn't get out. Totally hemmed in that entire shift.

Welp. It was nice having a lead for 2 minutes.

Need to get it back.
Jesus..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/4/2020 9:18 pm : link
Can't give one up like that so quickly
Reimer
pjcas18 : 8/4/2020 9:21 pm : link
shook his helmet off on purpose.
Go from having..

what should have been a delay of game to several missed opportunities.

Damn
Holy crap..

we can't put the puck in the net
Holy

Wow.

Plexiglass in front of the Canes goal
I'm watching..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/4/2020 9:50 pm : link
the Canes feed and they are out of their minds about Reimer. Saying that Brindamour made the coaching move of the year putting him in net!

Sometimes they just don't. But all's fair. . . .

Rangers look much better in this game and could win it, exciting everyone. Impressed by how much difference the switch in goalies has made for the home team.
I have Millbury
pjcas18 : 8/4/2020 9:56 pm : link
and Boucher and they've been gushing most of the game about Shesterkin, didn't really even mention Reimer, other than suggesting maybe Brindamour made a mistake, until the last ridiculous sequence.
It's not Lundqvist's fault
Greg from LI : 8/4/2020 10:04 pm : link
But the team just plays much better with Shesterkin in net for whatever reason.

To be fair, there have been a few really bad giveaways, but so far they haven't come back to bite them in the ass.

The defense is just so careless
I think it starts
pjcas18 : 8/4/2020 10:10 pm : link
with puck handling.

If you watch the D with Hank it seems the exchange is sometimes awkward like after all this time they're not sure what he's going to do with the puck.

Shesterkin seems more comfortable handling the puck, and the D can anticipate what he's going to do with it more easily and everything keys off breakouts and zone exits IMO.

Not sure if there is any truth to this it's just a theory, since I don't watch that much of the Rangers but it sure seems like it's the case to me when I do watch.
The puck..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/4/2020 10:15 pm : link
handling of Igor helps, no doubt. That's always been Hank's weakness and it sometimes disrupts the flow
That's definitely part of it
Greg from LI : 8/4/2020 10:15 pm : link
Most of their defensemen are challenged by getting out of their own end.
Shit..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/4/2020 10:20 pm : link
this is depressing
They're just not good enough
NYerInMA : 8/4/2020 10:20 pm : link
compared to Carolina.
No
pjcas18 : 8/4/2020 10:21 pm : link
chance for the goalie on that.

Defensive breakdown in the corner. Gave the guy too much space - he fell down got up and still had the puck.

and I hate Foegele.
Screwed

Shot was too tough. Get it back!
And then..

a bullshit penalty called

I think they stripped and got caught with their shorts down:)
Trouba

Has never been the asset he was supposed to be.
When is the lottery drawing
YAJ2112 : 8/4/2020 10:32 pm : link
for the playoff losers?
Need better defense and a better coach
Greg from LI : 8/4/2020 10:33 pm : link
Quinn is an empty suit
If Tony Deangelo
Kyle in NY : 8/4/2020 10:33 pm : link
can’t complete a simple outlet pass then he’s pretty much useless back there. He’s had a brutal series. I expect Staal and Smith to be terrible, by Tony should be a contributor and he’s been completely exposed

I have a feeling he's more banged up than we know
Defense is a mess with
nygfaninorlando : 8/4/2020 10:35 pm : link
Staal, Smith and TDA but the offense has to be better. 4 goals in 3 playoff games isn’t going to get it done. Future is bright though with Igor in goal and reinforcements coming on the blue line.
No other way to say it
Anakim : 8/4/2020 10:35 pm : link
Trouba has had a terrible year....and he's signed for 8M per. Pionk had a better year and Ville Heinola looks promising.

Right now, it looks like an absolute brutal trade and subsequent extension.
I thought
pjcas18 : 8/4/2020 10:37 pm : link
before the turnover to Aho, Trouba was playing a great game. he was physical, active offensively (missed the net about 4 times though) and solid with his gap control with the speedy Canes forwards. Plus he was playing the "hard" minutes.

a turnover that results in a goal wipes it all away though.
We knew Deangelo didn't want to kneel
Anakim : 8/4/2020 10:38 pm : link
But he ended up kneeling after all...
The offense is struggling
Kyle in NY : 8/4/2020 10:39 pm : link
in large part due to the D struggling so badly to move the puck out of the zone with control.

Not sure why you like Pionk so much but not TDA. they're the same player basically. Pionk was absolutely brutal today. I think he was on the ice for every Flames goal and personally responsible for a couple of them.

Sums it up well, I actually thought he’s had a decent series. At least didn’t look overwhelmed like some. Neither he or Tony coveted themselves in glory there but Aho is pretty sick

Trouba is physical and gives up his body, but he becomes out of position because of it.
