NFT: What comedians are you listening to now?

JayBinQueens : 8/6/2020 2:52 pm
Mark Normand's latest special on Youtube was pretty good.

I'm now looking to 'discover' some new people so, BBI, who are you listening to?

Mark Normand - Out To Lunch - ( New Window )
What's new to you vs. what's new....
MOOPS : 8/6/2020 3:58 pm : link
to me most likely are two different things.
That said, if you're not familiar with Paul Virzi or Pete Correale, they are worth a listen.
Brian Regan...
BamaBlue : 8/6/2020 4:01 pm : link
I just found him on one of the comedy channels on Sirius-XM. He's a very funny story teller and not raunchy.

Very true - I guess really any of the 'lesser known' people as anyone reading the thread will have different levels of exposure to people.

Paul Virzi's special was great! Thought they edited/cut it a little weirdly but overall really good. He's a Bill Burr guy for anyone not familiar with him.

Haven't seen Pete so I'll check him out, thanks!

He's the best. Amazing to see in person too.
Man, I miss the comedy clubs.
MOOPS : 8/6/2020 7:00 pm : link
We had a good lineup coming in late March and April and needless to say it all got washed out. Craig Shoemaker, Titus, Virzi.
Hoping for a vaccine. This cribbing up is getting old.
Ryan Hamiltion in Happy Face

It’s on Netflix
It is hilarious

If you're in NYC, Stand Up NY does social distancing comedy in the parks. If you want to hit me up I can forward you the emails as I get them. Usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays and they do it in 4 or 5 different parks in Manhattan and Brooklyn
Tom Segura

I"m in Arizona. The clubs reopened here with Social Distancing for a short time, but then had to shut down again. We'll just have to wait a bit until this clears up.

I liked his recent special a lot and I've been watching his podcast with Bert Kreischer 2 Bears, 1 Cave every week lately during WFH when I can... it's a great watch.
Tom Segura's Your Mom's House podcast
widmerseyebrow : 8/7/2020 12:53 am : link
Has been must see for me.
Anthony Jeselnik.
Crispino : 8/7/2020 8:34 am : link
Not for everyone, but I think he’s hilarious. Same goes for Bill Burr.
Norm Macdonald and old clips of Tough Crowd, Patrice, etc.,
Moondawg : 8/7/2020 8:51 am : link
are constants for me.

David Spade's quarantine monologues are good. Besides Conan, He's the only late night talk show host who is actually funny on his own. Colbert and Meyers are just bad imitations of political hosts at this point.
Theo Von is a funny, wise, man-child of sorts
Moondawg : 8/7/2020 8:52 am : link
I listen to his podcast from time to time as well.

Norm Mcdonald is great.

Conan was getting too political for me. has he pulled back some?

Colbert and Meyers are trash.

He’s become my new go to. Tom Segura used to hold that spot but his last special was a dud, IMO.

Ancient, but I’ve been watching Carson every night. I like his monologues. A charming, funny guy.
Was watching a lot of Senastian Manascalco

Buut, I didn't love his last show.
I’ve been listening to a ton of old Carlin
UConn4523 : 8/8/2020 9:23 am : link
Some of it 30+ years old and still completely relevant.

a lot more relevant today. A lot of comedians today seem to incorporate Carlin into their act, I see it a lot with Bill Burr.

Carlin is still very relevant because a lot of the issues he was

He also challenges the status quo, something he was way ahead of his time in doing. He truly didn’t give a fuck about who he pissed off.
The Von is really funny in conversation
terptacular : 8/8/2020 2:58 pm : link
But I don't find his standup as funny. I really like Doug Stanhope. He is a bit "in your face" but that's what comedy is for.
Oh

Same, funny enough podcast but terrible standup, IMO. I feel
similarly about Joe Rogan - love his podcast but his voice/delivery makes his standup unlistenable for me.

Bill Hicks was similar in this respect. I wonder if Hicks influenced Carlin to become more political.
Mentioned already but Sebastian Maniscalco
slickwilly : 8/8/2020 3:44 pm : link
Even when his jokes don't hit the delivery normally cracks me up anyway.

The physicality of his delivery is all part of it.
