Possibly a waiver wire target for NYG depending on the draft grade we had on him?

Buccaneers waive 2018 second-round pick M.J. Stewart - ( New Window )
Interesting. I have no idea about him

but considering our CB situation and our claims for lesser talented (based on draft value) players I'd assume we would put in a claim.
As a rookie

He was targeted 40 times. He allowed 34 receptions for 407 yards and 5 TDs. He was the 3rd highest passer rating allowed with a 148.6.
I've read that they have tried him at every position possible

Outside corner, nickel, slot, and safety. Nothing has worked out.
Never give up on talent?

Interesting though, sounds like a big time bust if TB literally tried every position possible.
Maybe the Bucs should try Stewart at WR. He eliminated himself from

Set reminds you of DeAndre Baker just a bit more size to him.

Stewart was 159th on Colin’s Big Board.

I understand that teams draft partly for system fit. But some organizations might be better off just following the draftnik consensus - especially when you consider how quickly NFL coaches and coordinators turn over.

Tony Mandarich was a "draftnicks' consensus top pick too.
BlueLou: Look at the rest of the top five in 1989.

Three all-time greats and a HoF QB with three rings.

As for Mandarich, the League eventually got smarter about workout warriors like him and Mike Mamula. Mistakes are still made, but I doubt Mandarich would generate nearly the hype now that he did thirty years ago. He might not have made it through the Combine.

looks a bit too thick to be a CB. Could be another Rover type CB/S tweener like Love.
he was an interesting tweener prospect
Eric on Li : 8/7/2020 9:54 am : link
sort of similar to Julian Love. Couldn't hurt. Would basically replace Beal with a similar vintage prospect who has been healthier.
looks like

they had better options at the position. Read some scouts thought he'd be better at safety (but he's pretty short for a safety)
How to tell your team is terrible
Gman11 : 8/7/2020 12:43 pm : link
When people want to pick up a CB that gave up an 85% completion percentage.

Time to put away the crack pipe, Carl.

If you want to say he flashed and showed potential, that’s one thing. But to say he played well is just silly
