LT rookie card

Des51 : 8/9/2020 11:12 am
My son and grandson came in for a weekend visit. My boy finally decided to take home his baseball card collection that we have been storing for years in 5 hugh plastic tub containers. When he got home he calls and told me he found LT rookie card, also 5 baseball cards from 1956, which had to be from my collection. I asked if any big names on those 5. One name stuck with me, Joe Skiba. Didn't a Joe Skiba work for the Giants some time ago. I wonder if it's a relation.
Pretty cool.

I still have all of my baseball cards from 1974-1978. The only football card I have is Walter Payton’s rookie card in excellent condition- 1975 if I remember correctly.
That's awesome

I had a nice collection as a kid that went the way so many do, but some of it survived, and now my youngest got into it so it's kind of cool to see her explore all the cards I have left and to save her money to buy her own.

Nice way to bond. She is a hockey player, so she like to collect hockey cards exclusively and it's a great way to learn about the sport, the players, stats, etc.

the bad news is she's always looking for Bruins players and I hate the Bruins, but all good otherwise, lol.
I have a large collection

of baseball cards. Almost a complete collection of Derek Jeter including all his rookie cards where he looks like a 14 year old boy. There must be close to 250 cards of Jeter. Don't know what his collection is worth, but probably quite a bit. Other rookie cards I collected were of Don Mattingly, Ken Griffey Jr., Mark McGwire, Nolan Ryan, etc. One of the more interesting rookie cards I have is of Michael Jordan. Don't know if it's worth anything, but it's strange to see such a famous basketball player on a baseball card.
Have mine too

I have crates of Baseball and Football cards from the 70's - 90's. Thought I'd give it to my kids one day...had 3 girls with no interest in them.

my three older brothers went through his belongings. By the time I got a chance to get to what remained, there was a bag of old baseballs. I figured they'd be good for tossing to the dog. Turned out one of those balls is autographed by Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Billy Martin, Phil Rizzuto, and a dozen or so other Yankees from that time. Some of the lesser known players indicate it was Mantle's rookie year. The lack of Joe Dimaggio is the only indication that it wasn't. I suppose it's quite possible Joe wasn't there or was so mobbed that my dad didn't get his autograph.
Just found this picture

I took of some of my cards from a few years ago.

I never collected for "profit" and I'm sure these cards are not very valuable, but they're very cool to look at. I have a bunch of the later players (including LT rookies, Bavaro, Simms, Strahan, maybe even up to Eli), but these are my favorites to look at the once every few years I look at them.

Is it ok to leave your sets in
