C'mon man, you can't really believe he doesn't give a shit about wins. Sure, maybe he is trying to stretch some guys out ( he sure didn't the other day when Tanaka was dealing) but not at the expense of wins.
I think it's more likely he thought Pax was dealing and thought he'd be ok after the 2run HR. He was wrong obviously but no way do I think his priority was stretching Pax out over getting this win.
Worse. Another hitless 9th will do it.

about the wins. He is stretching pitchers out. How many games now has he left a pitcher in too long and it cost the team.

I absolutely do. He has left pitchers out there well past their expiration limit. He did it with Cole, King in this series alone (now Paxton).
He is looking to stretch these guys out not worried about the win
the call comes from NY
I know, I just meant that we’re a bit cursed in that garbage building.
That should have been a routine DP. Urshela got that ball out fast. DJ does seem a bit slow.

You don't think Cole was already stretched out before he gave up the HR yesterday? He was already there. How come he didn't stretch Tanaka out the last time around if stretching them out is his priority?
Leaving guys in too long just means he screwed up in doing so, not necessarily because he's forgoing wins in favor of stretching guys out.
How anyone thinks he is still quality is beyond me

No. Cole had about 85 pitches previous time,IIRC. Tanaka was only about 60 pitches - remember he had a late start. King I'm not sure had 50.
Cole got tagged in his previous start late also.
he did.
Freakin Sanchez takes Britton's best pitch out of his hand....
Because he couldn't throw his sinker...

I agree and I am just going to keep my mouth shut.

My point on Cole was he was already stretched out yesterday. He was at what, like 95 pitches if not more when he have up the dinger.
I think it's much more likely Boone felt he could get through the inning and wanted to get him the win.
As for Tanaka, even with the late start, he was dealing his late time out and not really that many more pitches than his previous one. I believe it was only 5-8 more. If he wanted to stretch him out he would've let him go at least another 10-15 from his previous start.
We can go round and round on this as we clearly see it differently and I'm a bit surprised to see your take on this.

I just cannot see any other reason for leaving Cole, King and Paxton in the game up to and beyond the point of failure. Remember he likes to let pitchers work themselves out of trouble so they see how to do it(yet Cole and Paxton should know).
Boone does "crazy" stuff. He is a good manager, not nearly as good as Cash, but has a non-conventional managing style. But I was very "disappointed"(for lack of a better word) with how he managed this weekend.
Unfortunately this rings true as a bell. Indeed even the team's small ball is poor. The pitching is what it is and does not seem to be he root of the problem. Have no idea what to do about it. One can only hope Cashman and Boone can figure something out to at least start to change it.

Well we agree on a lot of that there, just not the part from earlier about not caring about wins over stretching guys out.
I didn't see the game King pitched so I can't really comment on that one but I think the reasons he kept Cole and Pax in are pretty simple and nothing to do with stretching them out.
Cole was one out away from qualifying for the win and I don't think he wanted to pull his new big money Ace in that spot. Nothing to do with getting more pitches in, IMO, just him trying to show Cole respect, that he had confidence in him and wanted to reward him with getting a win.
As for Pax, similar in that he felt he was cruising and wanted to show his vet the same kind of respect, thinking he could overcome the 2 run HR. I think had Pax not been so dominating he would've pulled him after the first guy got on, and certainly after the 2 run HR. Boone was fooled on that one and it ended up costing them the game.
To be honest, as well as Pax was dealing I thought he'd get the lefty out, and leave leading 3-2. I definitely didn't see the tying HR coming there so I can't kill Boone too much because I still felt Pax had good enough stuff to get another out at least.
Aaron Boone or Joe Girardi?
Because it's been studied and shown that offenses that score higher % of runs via HR do better in post-season than the opposite.
What seems more likely? Getting a long sustained rally against a pitcher like Verlander or getting a guy or two on and then hitting a mistake for a bomb? It's the latter.
"Aww theses guys aren't like the late 90's Yanks" No shit shirlock that was an all time fucking dynasty! This team has competed in the playoffs for years. Maybe came up a bit short because of starting pitching but getting Cole may help that. This team will be fine but this season will be crazy and the playoff format really doesn't reward teams for doing well so we'll see how it plays out.
Aaron Boone or Joe Girardi?
I think Joe, and he knew how to use his pen better as well. Boone is doing ok with that but Joe was/is about as good as there is in the game at it.
Oh fuck us, Randal's back?? Let me guess, Joey Cora has Boone's number too?
