With the win by the LA Clippers, New York will now have the 27th pick in the Draft. The Knicks also own a lottery pick and second from Charlotte - currently 6 and 39.
also add, I'd probably give up way more than would be recommended to draft LaMelo.
Think he's the only guy in the draft you can build a team around and has the clearest path to being a superstar. Maybe even include next year's first with some protections.
Agreed, hope the Knicks get 1 and save those assets but if i have to i am doing it
The Knicks are not making all seven of these draft picks over the next two years, and probably not all four of the first rounders. Can’t add that many young guys to a roster that’s already pretty young.
I bet they’d love to throw in a Dallas pick in a trade for a good veteran, so they can say they spun the KP haul into something positive.
Do you guys think the Knicks have enough assets (and opportunity) to somehow add 2 big stars by next season? Trade for one sign another...
You could make it work financially, i think if they want a star in free agency next year, they habe to trade for one this offseason or at least come close to making playoffs
How do people think LaMelo compares to Lonzo coming out?
To me, it seems like LaMelo has a higher ceiling due to his superior athletic ability but I’m a bit biased by Lonzo as a pro and seeing his limitations in the NBA

I won’t pretend to be an expert off of YouTube videos, but I think you’re right about the athletic ability - Lonzo doesn’t really create his own shot, and needed to improve his 3-ball just to be a competent NBA player. LaMelo is twitchy and crafty enough as a ball handler to get by defenders.
I have this uneasy feeling that Detroit - which has a glaring need at PG - will win the lottery and not entertain trade offers.
I am rooting for the Jazz and Philly to flame out bad. As great as he is , Gobert doesn't really fit the Knicks currently. But Simmons, Mitchell, and Embiid are high up on the list for the next stars to be traded.

it will be interesting to see what Philly does, i think it is clear they are not going any farther with embiid and simmons pairing...
Do they trade Embiid move horford to center and add shooters around simmons..
or do they trade simmons and run the offense through embiid and surround him with shooters..
either way philly needs shooters
you should always root for a philly franchise to crash and burn
and im fine with giving it to him. Guy is a stud whose best basketball is ahead of him. Man what a shame we couldnt find a way to get ujiri. What a job he has done. So many teams consistently picking in the top 10 cant find good players and he grabs guys like FVV and Siakim with late picks (or undrafted in FVV case).

I agree with all of this. It's amazing that the final four Wichita State team was led by three players, two of which the Knicks had (and stunk up the join) and the third was Vanvleet.
How many picks are you willing to give up for Mitchell?
Tommy Beer has been pushing this for a while now. With Harris extremely unlikely I'd be all for Bogdanovic. Not particularly interested in Gallo given his age. All-in on FVV and as I've stated big on Harrell.
on Hield as well. He's owed essentially FVV money and given the choice it wouldn't be close. Also, not sure the origin but Knicks fans need to move on from Anunby, no chance Toronto deals him .
Riley is the king of finding underrated talent but man is Ujiri good.
Traded Grievis Vasquez for Anunoby 23rd and Powell, Siakam 27th, FVV scrap heap, RHJ for 2.5 million and now players like Boucher and Watson giving them quality minutes. Dolan was right to fawn over the guy.

It’s not unusual for Mitchell to receive a handful of daily texts from Bryant of film clips with accompanying notes.
“I watch film a lot, but I’ve never met someone who watches it more than me,” Mitchell said. “He’s always trying to find ways to get guys better and find little tweaks to improve your game.”

so he is above Payne...
Payne is almost certainly being paid more so the title may have been necessary to snipe Bryant.

Wow. Johnnie Bryant leaving the Jazz for a promotion with the Knicks. He’s renowned for his player development. This is a big loss for Utah.
love trolling the Knicks but it's not like they have drafted a bunch of reaches in recent years and yet the young players have mostly been awful. Have to believe player development has been lacking.
RE: How many picks are you willing to give up for Mitchell?
Honestly whatever it took to get him. Would you trade this for him?
Both 2020 1st round picks, 2021 Dallas unprotected, 2022 NYK pick and Barrett.
I would in a heartbeat but I don't think they entices Utah. They would probably want future picks instead of Clips or Dallas one. I'd also be open to taking Conley if they were looking to shed salary...

My guess just to talk:
Barrett, 2020 1st, 2021 1st, 2021 dallas, and another future first

I like what Rose has done thus far and definitely hopeful, but its still crazy to me the Knicks didn't make an all out push to get Masai. Hopefully they did behind the scenes and he turned them down. But he is by far the best GM in the league and hes up there in all of sports. Incredibly impressive what he's done in Toronto.

Why would toronto let him leave? Knicks probably would of had to give 2 1sts
Not to rehash this whole thing, but he only had 1 year left on his deal and if he wanted to take the Knicks job- something could have been figured out. Even if they wanted 2 1sts, I would have done it. Especially if it was this years Clippers picks and one of the Dallas picks. You hate trading picks for him its close to a no brainer.
a highly-regarded person who’s gainfully employed by a successful NBA franchise. I’m sure a fat paycheck goes a long way, but it says something about his persuasive powers. These guys all know what the Knicks brand has been.

is he persuasive or is he just throwing money around? I guess it doesn't really matter, but hiring a great staff should be the "easy" part of running a team.
