and we'll worry about Anthony Davis later. If Mitch were drafted by Miami or Toronto or Utah he'd probably be an All-Star by now. Gotta get to work on his offensive game.
RE: It means he is not just some assistant at the end of the bench
And why are you attacking me? all last year i said Durant was not coming..
I'm not attacking you at all. Nothing I said was remotely inflammatory. I'm just pointing out the faulty logic in thinking that hiring an assistant coach who was/is close to a player, doesn't guarantee anything.

Nobkdy said it did, nobody said Davis is coming here, the combination of Wes and Payne though should grt them at least a meeting
and it gives us something to discuss while our team is basically dormant, but I can't get crazy about the "relationships" this guy developed with guys who spent about 6 months in Kentucky before turning pro.
nice hire, fine. All these moves show that the front office is building things pretty much from the ground up. Nice to see, but so much still to do and see. Seems the Knicks have their equilibrium, so to speak. I just can';t help but here The Who's "won't get fooled again" in my head...so damaged. Probably need therapy from this franchise.
AD isn’t coming here. But Longstaff and Payne aren’t quite the same situation. AD as of 2-3 years ago said he still talks to Payne twice a week. He calls him Uncle Kenny and that’s just Payne, never mind Wes who he’s also very close to.
At the end of the day though, it comes down to other things besides the staff or FO as always. Durant was going to the Warriors the second they lost that game to OKC. His mom could’ve been a Knicks assistant and it wouldn’t have mattered.
Payne was brought here is because of some AD dream then this would just be the same old FO with different faces. Hopefully that's not the case. And im not saying it is, obviously how would i know, but hopefully this organization is done basing everything around how to get a star here.

I don’t think this actually is a factor here. Towns called him one of the best development coaches in the world. His work with big men is what he’s known for so it’s likely more about Mitch and his ability to connect with young players and get them to work hard, than it is anything else
i dont think this hire is based on an AD pipe dream
But who knows? Maybe Payne will tap into something with him.
there's no code to crack with Randle. Cut out the iso nonsense and play more of a team game. Unfortunately, his fatal flaw is that his game is not ideal in today's NBA and I'm not sure he can co-exist with Mitch for big minutes.
was such an idiotic signing in a league where a guy like Kanter gets 2 for 10. Randle is what he is, youngish doesn't mean untapped potential when your skills are what they are.
if Payne's as good as his rep, then it's a great move. The Knicks need to develop their youth and this should help Mitch and maybe even salvage something from Knox (probably not, but he's at least familiar with him from Kentucky).

I wonder if we were even bidding against anyone for him. The partial guarantee ($4 million?)for 21/22 is not insignificant either.
Some have noticed Leon's resemblance to Tony Soprano, and Hahn compared the organizational structure to that of the mafia - "that's how they do things in South Jersey." Leon is the Godfather, Wes is consigliere, Thibs is a captain, and the rest are the soldiers (Perrin, Aller, etc.). Pretty excited about the front office, coaching staff and development team - we're finally clearing out the lackeys and bringing in some legit people.
isn't leaving LA but his quote on Payne and how he helped him is pretty exciting in terms of Mitch and maybe even Knox. I'm sure it doesn't hurt helping big men when you yourself at 6'8

Last offseason shows how incompetent the front office was. Put aside the disaster of the KP trade and missing on the top FAs, they essentially got a late 1st round pick for spending 70 million. They had endless possibilities to acquire talent or picks and they completely blew it. Imagine a scenario if they acquired CP3 and picked up a few extra picks along the way?
I always laugh when fans think Randle has any value. No team in the league has any interest in touching that contract. They will have to attach sweeteners to move him in any trade.
is a horrible player when you give him ball handling responsibility. This occurs when you have no lead guards on the roster...see NYK 19/20 roster.
Put him on most teams (those with true facilitators) and his warts are not so apparent. He is not the horrible player he was last year. He's far from perfect, but the contract isn't bad and he does have things he does well.
Lastly, if he is traded, he won't be traded for a team with cap room. It'll more likely be a deal where $$ plays a key role e.g. as part of a CP3 deal.
can score reasonably well and can rebound at a solid clip. He's a terrible defensive player and passer. Other than not being an annoying tool, what differentiates him and Kanter? This ignores the fact that he's a poor fit next to Mitch.

I'd say Randle can at least create his own shot (which is a valuable skill) much better than Kanter - but Kanter is a better rebounder/finisher. Both suck on defense. Given their current contracts, Kanter is a MUCH better value.
Kanter is pretty unique in the NBA these days. It seems like many teams prefer getting back on defense instead of pursuing offensive rebounds. But Kanter is so good at offensive rebounding and putbacks that he can help prop up an offense that would otherwise be struggling.

To be clear... I think Randle is marginally better than Kanter, I'm just saying taking into account the contracts.. Randle's looks comical.
I think Paul has played well enough and helped that team enough that they arent going to just give him away. Which sux cause i was def a fan of adding him.

They are at 107 million doesnt include cap holds for draft picks, plus the cap is most likely going to go down..
but man Dallas is an easy team to root against, Doncic, KP and Carlisle bitch about every single call..KP literally flopped 10 ft after gary trent jr touched him..
tommy breer are already hinting at it..
I dont think it happens but i do think Knicks get a meeting
Rose probabky feeding him info aince Woj is CAA

Must have missed where Longstaff was making 2 million a year as an assistant..
And the Knicks getting a meeting with Davis is not just based on Payne
Booker's a pipe dream. He's under contact through 2024

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

I do wonder what happened with Bam Adebayo. He looks like a beast with the Heat. What happened at Kentucky?
Fuck that loser. He never would have made it in New York anyways.
--Me after he resigns with the Lakers.

Kentucky bigs in that system are asked to play down low rebound and post up..
Towns has mentioned this, he had no idea how to post up when he got to kentucky and learned in that system..

and this (if true) is head scratching
"GM Scott Perry refused former player development director Craig Robinson’s pleas to send Smith to the G-League to ease him back."

Not the first time someone's said Perry hates the G League. It's a flaw and a mistake. Hopefully it gets corrected.
Great news on Ball. Lets go get him.

Thibs twice mentioned the G league (unsolicited) during his zoom call so I have to believe we will make use of it this year.

Jacques Vaughn has done a great job with the Nets, IMO

He wants to be an NBA head coach.
Depends if that signing would prevent other big moves. Might hamstring them a bit.
