Did not know Knicks could sign Robinson to extension this offseason, wpuld you sign him now? 3 years 35 million or 4 years 50
is Mitch a RFA or UFA after 2022? That plays into it. I think he's only a RFA. But either way, I'd definitely consider extending him and getting him under team control for a significant amount of time.

he is restricted after next year and unrestricted after the following year
Keep in mind rookies will start their seasons just a few weeks after getting drafted, so the odds of instant impact are reduced. Throw in DJ Augustin as a starting point guard, and we'll be scouting the loaded draft class in no time.
Probably reduces the likelihood of a roster overhaul, since all the players wanted out because of him. Atkinson would probably enjoy coaching that group, especially Lavine and Lauri.

Is Lavine up for an extension? that could play a part, but otherwise i agree..
Looks like Lavine is under contract for two more seasons.
No player or team options until it expires. So yeah, that's gonna come to a crossroads soon. I was thinking more of Lauri - we'll see who they hire. Lauri wasn't allowed any mid-range shots last year, which irritated him and probably led to his drop off in production. Obviously Atkinson would demand the same in his offense.
Gotta think that's the #1 job available. The opportunity to coach Zion. The Bulls may be a bigger and better all-around market, but the Pelicans have a more promising future.

Not only Zion, Ingram is a budding star, assuming they resign him, young bench pieces, jrue holiday..
also add, I'd probably give up way more than would be recommended to draft LaMelo.
Think he's the only guy in the draft you can build a team around and has the clearest path to being a superstar. Maybe even include next year's first with some protections.

With the win by the LA Clippers, New York will now have the 27th pick in the Draft. The Knicks also own a lottery pick and second from Charlotte - currently 6 and 39.

Agreed, hope the Knicks get 1 and save those assets but if i have to i am doing it
The Knicks are not making all seven of these draft picks over the next two years, and probably not all four of the first rounders. Can’t add that many young guys to a roster that’s already pretty young.
I bet they’d love to throw in a Dallas pick in a trade for a good veteran, so they can say they spun the KP haul into something positive.
Do you guys think the Knicks have enough assets (and opportunity) to somehow add 2 big stars by next season? Trade for one sign another...
You could make it work financially, i think if they want a star in free agency next year, they habe to trade for one this offseason or at least come close to making playoffs
How do people think LaMelo compares to Lonzo coming out?
To me, it seems like LaMelo has a higher ceiling due to his superior athletic ability but I’m a bit biased by Lonzo as a pro and seeing his limitations in the NBA

I won’t pretend to be an expert off of YouTube videos, but I think you’re right about the athletic ability - Lonzo doesn’t really create his own shot, and needed to improve his 3-ball just to be a competent NBA player. LaMelo is twitchy and crafty enough as a ball handler to get by defenders.
I have this uneasy feeling that Detroit - which has a glaring need at PG - will win the lottery and not entertain trade offers.
I am rooting for the Jazz and Philly to flame out bad. As great as he is , Gobert doesn't really fit the Knicks currently. But Simmons, Mitchell, and Embiid are high up on the list for the next stars to be traded.

it will be interesting to see what Philly does, i think it is clear they are not going any farther with embiid and simmons pairing...
Do they trade Embiid move horford to center and add shooters around simmons..
or do they trade simmons and run the offense through embiid and surround him with shooters..
either way philly needs shooters
you should always root for a philly franchise to crash and burn
and im fine with giving it to him. Guy is a stud whose best basketball is ahead of him. Man what a shame we couldnt find a way to get ujiri. What a job he has done. So many teams consistently picking in the top 10 cant find good players and he grabs guys like FVV and Siakim with late picks (or undrafted in FVV case).

I agree with all of this. It's amazing that the final four Wichita State team was led by three players, two of which the Knicks had (and stunk up the join) and the third was Vanvleet.
How many picks are you willing to give up for Mitchell?
Tommy Beer has been pushing this for a while now. With Harris extremely unlikely I'd be all for Bogdanovic. Not particularly interested in Gallo given his age. All-in on FVV and as I've stated big on Harrell.
on Hield as well. He's owed essentially FVV money and given the choice it wouldn't be close. Also, not sure the origin but Knicks fans need to move on from Anunby, no chance Toronto deals him .

Tried to keep the roster construction somewhat realistic...
How many wins does this #Knicks squad finish with next year?
Thibs/Payne/Woody/Miller/etc
-
Augustin/Edwards/RJ/Carmelo/Mitch
Frank/Bullock/Harkless/Randle/Taj
Knicks need to add a SG that can actually shoot and not wayne ellington.
Shocked if Melo is not signed..
Obviously this all changes if a star becomes available
I dont understand how he doesnt get more respect, wont jump teams, wants to stay in portland for the rest of his career..should get more respect

Apparently their top 2 is kidd and lue

I didn’t need to know that we gave up a pick for Perry. Thanks I think?
Why give up a pick for an OK exec? Why?
Averaged 18-6-4 out of the break on much improved shooting %s including 41% from 3.
My only concern is his fit with RJ, but that's a later problem. Focus on the BPA.

If you can get him and send them randle in the process, could be something to think about
