should we trade for Alex Mack? Atlanta just drafted Matt Hennessy. What would it cost. Imagine hearing the Giants traded a 3rd and 7th round pick for Alex Mack, what would your reaction be? Our OL would be very solid if we had a good center.

This is a tremendous observation and something to put a pin in for later in the year: where will Peppers, Golden, Frackrell, Williams, etc. shakeout on passing downs. I believe they have puzzle pieces to produce an above average pass rush.
"Garrett mentioned the playbook's been around a long time...."
This is something I've long suspected and has been alluded to in passing by previous Giants coaches.
The Giants have a "New York Giants Playbook" for offense, defense and special teams they issue to each new coach they hire. It doesn't really matter what these coach's ran in their previous stops - they conform to the Giants Way.
They *appear* to let coaches make changes here and there (McAdoo, for example, seemed to get quite the rope with his WCO replacing Coughlin's...)
But by and large, there is a reason ultra-aggressive coaches get to NY and suddenly play conservatively. And how the team never really looks any different regardless of who is coaching.
