As a practical matter, this is the maximum number of lefties the Yankees can start.
You can't put in Tauchman without replacing a lefty bat.
Wade is a back up, period.
I'd say the real issue is whether Ford (.167) can keep his job.
Still cannot believe the deal Acuna signed.
Go full Monty tonight.
Never rub another man's rhubarb!
2020 just ain't right.
Find room for Frazier and Andujar and lets get peppering the green.
Judge just placed that one to the wrong spot.
3-0
That sound off the bat is magic.
Monty has to knuckle down.
I love Gary - even when he is playing like crap. Something has to give. I'd have a cut-out of his daughter in the seats right behind the plate.
K him.
Let's do that damage 99...
Time for Hicks to double our lead.
I noticed that too. On balance i'm glad he isn't getting too deep in the count. He has too big a hole in his swing to battle with two strikes while taking the best pitches to hit.

I'll take the homeruns for sure!
Smashed a two run double on a 3-2 count
It was the Canadian idiot, who is safely ignored anyway

Didn't someone here say they didn't want Monty anywhere near the postseason rotation after his last start? LOL.

I represent that!
ALL RISE!
As Judge crushes one....

Nah that's not true. They could've sat Voit and put Ford at 1B, with either Gardy or Tauchman in LF with the other being the DH.
I'm not saying they should've done that, just there was a way to get one more lefty bat in there if they wanted.
I am too. Don't know how you combat it without getting into a bean ball contest. Only thing you can do is crush it and give the pitcher shit as you circle the bases.
Love it (but hate it).
8-3
Love it (but hate it).
Ah pitching so the batter can beat the shift. Nice piece of hitting there.
As Montgomery shits the bed
2nd eff up by DJ tonight. His fault earlier, too.
he doesn't have a chance to block a ball like that.
Exactly the same spot he let the same pitch go by a couple of games ago (that was called a wild pitch, which it wasn't then or this time either).
he doesn't have a chance to block a ball like that.
They are being coached to do it that way. It's not his choice.
After all the great catchers in Yankee history we now have a lazy, careless player who they make excuses for. As a former season ticket holder who saw Berra, Howard, and of course Munson its really sad to see him behind the plate.

Block it? It never even hit the ground. All he had to do was catch it.

No, they want the cheap pitches with framing, but he easily reached that ball. He was just lazy getting there, just like the other day.
So sad. Unimaginable that that much talent could just keep getting hurt and unable to play.
Ford and Voit doing well today.

I understand the purpose. The one knee thing was supposed to make it easier to do. I only heard on the air that they were being required to do it by the coach.

I didn't know that. It makes not sense to me. But I am a purist and old fashioned.
He sucks, but at least he can catch. As it is, they really won't lose much at the plate.
But, Gary did have 3 good at bats tonight. He was making contact and fighting off pitches.
Wow, infield is awful tonight.
He has a lot more good days than bad. And yes Torres screwed him booting an easy out.
Just rest. He pulled him when the game seemed out of reach. 8-3

Or did Boone just pull him early for rest? I haven't heard anything but thought maybe I missed why he was pulled.

Thanks. That's a relief.
I've been in and out of this game and saw he wasn't in there but didn't know why. I guess at 8-3 Boone felt comfortable getting him some rest, and I think it would've been a safe call there too.
It may have been 8-0 when he sat Judge. It was too early. Get him his at bat then sit him.
Oh well. They seem to make a mess every night. Should have been a complete laugher.
Wonder if Monty is just not in game condition yet? He was just gassed it seemed. Started the 6th having thrown only 60 pitches.

As we saw, the game wasn't out of reach. They had a day off on Monday, and another on Thurs. He should have stayed in the game at that point.
Glad they won, and that didn't blow up in Boone's face.
the abyss for weeks at a time. Just brutal to watch,
and it's not helping him behind the plate either,
he takes onto the field with him.
Cue the speculation.

Asked if he expects Aaron Judge to play Friday vs. Boston, Aaron Boone said: “I hope so, but that’s a long way from now.”
