Ynoa vs. Tanaka
I'm still pissed about the Canes-Bruins game so I need the Yanks to win.
No Judge....cause for concern? He did come out of last nights game.

Was wondering that too. I have the game on, but the volume is low and I'm finishing up work so I didn't really catch why Boone yanked him.
Hopefully it's just that he's building back up after needing to re-set for a couple weeks after getting hit in the noggin.
Has been sensational tonight. Only one more (triple) needed for the cycle!
5-2 good guys
Timely hitting is starting to happen.
Question is how many years/AAV gets it done?
DJ is 32 now. A young 32 - he just turned it about a month ago.
3 years with an option?
5 years would make me a little uneasy, knowing we could definitely be looking at a couple of crappy ones at the end.
I feel like 3 with an option year would be the sweet spot.
Something like 16 per? He's on a 12 per deal now, so he's got to get a raise from there. 16-18 per seems about right.

When he finishes the season over. 400 and we win the world series I have a feeling he will command more than 16mm per. Alot will depend on the MLB-Pandemic financial world.
Guess we will see Ottavino in the 8th.
Such a good hitter.
It sure has looked better. If he can actually harness it, he's a closer.
This time, it's Gio.
Every freaking game one of our guys gets hit.
I don't know who I thought might have done it. I guess the truly great hitters weren't typically traded and free agency is relatively recent in the history of the sport.
Let's close this one out without drama or lower body injuries.
While I understand him wanting to save some arm time, he ends up wasting it.
Hale-Happ-Heller-Holder
May be something to that ...
Good start to the 9-game homestand here.
I want 7-2 on this thing. Or better.
I doubt he got a proper warm up. Mariano needed about 6-8 pitches to warm up. Most need a lot more. Holder was warming up in the 8th, I did not see Britton. Britton has a lot of innings(and 7 saves). He was getting better as he threw more.
Another stellar win for Jints. Day off tomorrow and then a weekend with our friends.
Chappy may be back Saturday or Sunday.
Wonderful. Setting up a 0-0 game.

Britton did not have his "A" game tonight, but got it done.

I forgot Chappy was even on the team. Our bullpen is sooo depp.
He needs more work to stay sharp as Coney said.
How 'bout Red Thunder stealing the show!
Looks like Cole and Eovaldi on Friday.
The Sawx pitching is just brutal besides Eovaldi and Perez.
It was a good night, the B's also won during the day.
The legend of Patrice Bergeron continues...
They are bringing him along slowly, it appears.
He has had 51, then 59, now 66 pitches.
I would like to see him get up to 85 pitches next time.
The dude would NOT abide.
He's making better contact. One of those Sanchez HR streaks is probably around the corner.
Not sure what has been snagging Gleyber so badly - he looks a little loose mechanically. I know he's a bit of a free swinger in empty or one strike counts, but his approach in the past has always really tightened up with 2 strikes and he's struggling to do that now the way he has in the past.
He's way too good to struggle for much longer. A breakout should definitely be around the bend for him, too.
I hope Boone doesn't feel obligated to play Gardner if Judge can go on Friday. Frazier really should be in LF. Tauchman should also be playing ahead of Gardner.
It's a short year. We just need to play the best players and the guys who are hitting. Clint deserves PT and so does Tauchman.

yep, Judge or no Judge, neither Frazier nor Tauchman should be sitting in favor of Gardner these days. Late inning defensive replacement if anything, or give Hicks a day off or in the DH slot if you want to manage his wear and tear.
Gardy definitely seems to have lost his bat speed. He simply cannot catch up to a FB anymore and hence his plate discipline is gone. I have never seen him swing at so much trash at the rate with which he is doing now. Tauchman should definitely be the starter. I'll wait on Frazier for a few more games, but wow did he look good last night, even in the field.
He was never great in the OF but I think the concussion/s last year really affected his play. Not just the missed time and lack of practice but he looked a bit gun shy and unsure of himself out there, especially going back on balls.
I'm not sure his head was ever 100% over them last year, both physically and mentally. Can't blame him, but I think it was clear they affected his play.
It wouldn't surprise me at all knowing how bad he wants to play that he put in the work needed in the off season to improve defensively. I'm sure we'll find out since he no doubt earned more playing time last night.

I think you are correct. There is no way in God's green earth that a player of his caliber could play that badly without a serious cause. You could see better OF play by high schoolers than what we saw of him last year. He does not need to be Brett Gardner/Aaron Hicks. Competent will do it. For the short amount of exposure I saw the other night, he just looked better. He attacked the ball, was where he needed to be, made good throws.
I hope to see him on the field more.
