I'm not tech-illiterate, but I'm like tech special needs, so please bear with me: I was in NY over the weekend and changed the settings on my YouTube TV so that NY metro is my "home area." I'm still getting the NY area network programming back home in Mass. I was able to watch the Mets on SNY. So, when Giants games are on Fox or CBS (channels 5 and 2 on your NY dial) I should be able to get them, right? Also, recently, I got a Nord VPN subscription.
Here's my other question: I have the VPN active as an extension on my Macbook. Do I need to download the Nord app to my smart TV (Vizio) if I want to watch the games via YouTube TV on the YV and/or cast it to the TV? One reason I ask is, when I was in the VPN settings, bro it had an option to connect with other devices (including my router, (I think), but it didn't work.
I'm hoping of course not to have to do anything more but until the games are broadcast, I'm anxious over it working or not.
Thanks!
Your TV just needs to be able to be cast to.
Your TV just needs to be able to be cast to.
OK, cool. One less issue. So, I should be good to go watching on the laptop or the TV? Nothing more to do?

This claim should be verified. There are times where Chromecast will receive a URL to make its own independent request for the media.
If you OP can, shut off the receiving device’s (TV/chromecast/etc) access to outside Internet to test this claim for your scenario.
no longer exists...they shut it down

Just substitute NFL for any sport and you can stream it to a TV. I been using it for a few years with no VPN.

Yes, the..
NFL
..sure did take a...
BITE
..out of that setup.
It would be a shame if you googled the capitalized words in this post, by the way.
If you watch the game live on YoutubeTV in Florida you will not get the Giants unless they are on local stations in Florida.
If you record the Giants at home in NY you can watch the recording in Florida with slight delay. Yeah kind of weird but it worked. I guess Youtube has figured out how to blackout realtime games but not recorded games. They might have figured this out for this season.
Good luck
Is there an NFL Gamepass app for laptop or smart TV, or does it have to be on a mobile device?

I used vpn with nfl gamepass Europe. Worked perfectly. Hope it works again this year.
No app to use. Need to login through the webpage.

2) If you lose NY as your home setting, YTTV will change to where you live. At this point Nord will not save you. Tried it. So VPN is buying you nothing on the TV. You will get local channels, plus of course NFL Network and Redzone.
3) VPN is a good move for your PC. You can make your PC look like London, and sign up for GamePass Intetnational. This works, I've done it. Game pass International will give you all the NFL games live, including the Gianys. Game pass US only allows you to watch them after they are done.
However, the catch is that if you are outside your home area for a long enough time eventually it will ask you to log back in in your home area to verify your lcoation or they cut you off.
The only work around i know of is to install a VPN on your router before it goes to any of your devices so you can trick youtubetv that you are back in your home market.
I have google wifi and am unable to install a VPN on the router so i haven't been able to replicate this.

Yes if you install the VPN on the router itself, not on the TV, it may work. However then everything in your house will think its in NY, not just the PC or TV. Usually that screws something else up
Yes. Some routers are locked down; some are more configurable. So you'll have to figure out a. if your router is configurable to add a vpn; b. if it is, usually you can find a guide online or the vpn itself might have instructions on how to add.
I have a mesh network using google wifi so it's not worth it to me to replace my routers to get a VPN installed on it; i just bite the bullet and do sunday ticket.
