The only workaround I've found is a college student can buy the digital NFL package for $100 and you can stream it on a Smart TV without having an underlying Directv subscription.
You'd have to mess with your location settings on a browser would be to use "locast" You modify your location to NYC and you can watch that market's local stations.
to get the Sunday Ticket streaming service last year without subscribing to DTV. I just put my address in on the website and it said I was eligible. I had to pay full price for Sunday Ticket but didn't have to get a satellite and DTV package.
With a subscription to Hulu + Live TV, you can follow your favorite NFL pro football teams throughout the 2019 season, record their games, and access the live TV broadcasts aired on NBC, CBS, FOX, and ESPN — through all of your Live TV supported mobile and TV-connected devices.

For like $85 you get all the good channels plus NFL Network and Redzone.
For Sunday Ticket
1) if you or your kiddo has an .edu account you can get it for $100.
2) if you don't mind watching from your computer (you can just attach it to your TV and watch it on the big screen), you can get a VPN, set it to the UK, and sign up for Gamepass International. GP International shows all the games live like Sunday Ticket (as well as NFL Network, Redzone, etc.). I have never gotten the VPN to work with packages like YoutubeTV, they are too smart.
3) GP USA gives you NFL Network and Redzone, but you can only watch the football games after they are done.
you can get Sunday Ticket for 100 bucks. I have two in college, so it's what I use. I gave up DTV about three years ago. Lonk - ( New Window )
I'm not sure if its been updated, but fwiw the validation of whether you were a college student used to be pretty basic. I used to be just name, college, and birthdate, which is trivial to find out about some student athletes. For a couple of years I subscribed as a D1 athlete each year (using my personal, non-college email).
How do you get a vpn and do that, I admit to being clueless, but I hate being dependent on directv.
Downlaod ExpressVPN or NordVPN, both are good.
1) Just download it (they give you a free trial period then start charging like $5 per month give or take).
2) In your toolbar, pick the UK server from the server list of the VPN. Then you should look like you are coming from a server in London (hence a London resident). You can turn this off when not using GamePass
3) Go to GP International and sign up and pay. Remember to turn on the VPN again before accessing GP International or it won't let you in because it will see you are a USA resident.

Yep, this is how it is still. I do it every year. In the past I could just look up a local college team, but this year it seemed all the DOB were gone. I found a European tennis player at a local school and ESPN international still listed her DOB. I’m not local anymore so I watch it out of state so don’t need to worry about VPN. 100 bucks for the 11 or 12 games not on local tv got me is ok, no way I’m paying 300 for a team winning 5 games!
Both Hulu and YouTube TV rely on your network/ISP (that your device is connected to) to establish the region available for viewing. Hulu allows 4 changes to this region per year.
I was hoping one of these options would have a feature allowing you to change your location via your account settings but alas....
I'll explore some of the other options presented above. Thanks guys!
I will never give money to a satellite service again

I think Hulu only allows in market games.

True.
I just did some more digging.
