Eligible for the hall of fame in 2012 (he was elected in 2013). He left the cowboys in 2007. He was the executive VP of operations with the dolphins, so his eligibility was attached to his last head coaching job.
The same would hold true for Coughlin. He should be eligible next year
But did Coughlin leave that organization in the dumpster or what?
Can't believe what bad shape that team is in
Coughlin was only partly to blame for the shape of the team, but it was time for him to leave just based on on-field mistakes and oversights. Among other issues, he didn’t know how to handle Beckham (no one has) and his coaching staff had become old and stale. Unfortunately, McAdoo wasn’t the answer either. He didn’t have the experience and Shurmer didn’t have the personality. Hoping for Judge to have a nice 20-25 year coaching career.

I believe the post was in reference to the bad shape Jacksonville is in, not when TC left the Giants.
Are pretty close to the same resume's, Parcells has a little better winning percentage, Both have about 170 regular season wins, I think Parcells is 13-8 in the playoffs, Coughlin 12-7, both with 2 rings, Tom lost about 20 more regular season games.

They aren't close at all. Just by the numbers, Parcells regular season winning percentage is .569. Couglin's is .531. That's a huge disparity.
Not to mention that Bill P did it with four different teams, each time taking over a pretty crappy organization.
Parcells also never won a SB in the free agency era
he waits a little bit to get in. I think overall the football world sees Parcells as the better coach and some of the voters will bring up the last four years and last year at Jax.
I am certain Parcells and Belichick would vote strongly if they could and they would know.
RE: Parcells also never won a SB in the free agency era
Which most people say is easier to do than before.
Easier than before? I think there's a reason most dynasties were pre-free agency/salary cap.
I happen to agree, but many like to praise Parcells for the wins in his era but don't mention the fact that he never won a SB in Tom's "easier" era.
I'm just happy they both got to the top of the mountain twice.
Well, I think they might have a point in the Parcells vs. Coughlin argument IF (if if if) Coughlin's wins weren't against the greatest Dynasty of ANY era.
It's a shame the Eagles beat the Patriots in the Superbowl.
