BBI Giants-Steelers Game Preview Now Available

Eric from BBI : Admin : 9/12/2020 2:23 pm
Here we go!

Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Giants, September 14, 2020 - ( New Window )
Great preview!
larryflower37 : 9/12/2020 2:43 pm : link
Go nuts.

I think the biggest thing I am looking for is how they game plan and the in game adjustments.
Judge seems like the coach that is going to go all out and try and keep the other team guessing.
GO BIG BLUE

I'm curious to see if we can finally run a screen pass again.
Yeah, the thing I'm most worried about is our OL.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 9/12/2020 3:05 pm : link
That Steelers DL is no joke. Well, baptism by fire for Thomas.
Good review.....
Simms11 : 9/12/2020 3:11 pm : link
I’m not expecting much from our Oline, but if they can be the more physical unit on the field, we might have a chance. Can’t put DJ in long 3rd down situations or we’ll certainly see their ferocious Pass rush. Need to keep 3rd Downs manageable. If SB can even get 3 yards a carry, it would suffice.

Fingers crossed.
We have the lineman to do it
Good stuff!

One thing
Eric from BBI : Admin : 9/12/2020 4:29 pm : link
I will say about the secondary is this: if you told Giants fans back in January that Logan Ryan and James Bradberry would be on this team, they would be pretty happy.

What sucks is losing Xavier McKinney (and yes, I am one of those guys who still thought Deandre Baker could play).
Ben has a ton of millage.
George from PA : 9/12/2020 6:20 pm : link
Also, i am not convince that Pittsburgh has the team speed everyone is claiming.

I hope the OL can hold up...

Bradbury, Peppers, Love and Ryan are as good if not better top 4 DB as anyone else in the NFCE. That may be a low bar but it’s not nothing either.

Is the key to this game I don’t see our defense getting him off his footing by applying pressure quickly. Look Ben has seen how many types of blitz packages in his career the more we blitz the higher the risk for our limited talent defense. It’s not the speed of the Steelers it’s the fact these guys have so much prior experience on offense and defense. Should our guys get behind real early I mean even a TD how will they react to being behind against a superior team and it’s national TV we don’t normally bring our D game for some reason.
I'm expecting a loss
darren in pdx : 9/12/2020 7:21 pm : link
but I'd be content if they aren't completely embarrassed..and still be upset if they lose a close game. If they get blown out everyone is going to feel 'here we go again..' regardless of the circumstances, unfortunately.
Gotta stay ahead of the chains
Aaroninma : 9/12/2020 7:35 pm : link
Avoid 3rd and 8+. Engram/Barkley will need 8+ catches. Unreasonable to expect this OL to hold up to 3rd and longs consistently right now.

If they can do that, they can be in the game
I think Barkley
bluesince56 : 9/12/2020 8:24 pm : link
will be a big factor in this game. Could be the wild card
They will keep it close for three quarters
ArlingtonMike : 9/12/2020 10:20 pm : link
Before the defense runs out of gas from being on the field too much. This is just a bad matchup for our offense, let alone the first game with half the team brand spanking new.

Priority is keeping Daniel upright and showing a high compete level with smarts and toughness. If he fumbles again, watch out.
I'll say this: if they can hand off the ball
NBGblue : 9/12/2020 10:52 pm : link
to Barkley without having him hit in backfield consistently, they have a "puncher's chance" to steal this game. If you give him room, Barkley is a game changer.

I feel the same way. There is no chance in hell our OL will be ready for this front 7. No way in hell.

I had the Steelers by 14 during training camp. I now have the Steelers by 7 or less but only because I think they may struggle on offense to run the ball and thereby keep us within striking distance.

The Giants would need to be like +2 or better to win this game. I just think the Steelers will play conservative on offense and so will we, and their team is going to be "more ready" with a set system than ours.

Look for some missed assignments on defense to cost us and we lose say 24-20 or something like that.

with Banks and Papa, on Giants.com, you can clearly see Pittsburgh’s front normally rushing with 5, as well as, their use of twists and stunts to confuse the Oline. This is going to be a real challenge for this Oline. Quite honestly I don’t know how the Oline comes out of this unscathed either. It’s going to be a real challenge and learning experience for them. The RBs and TEs are going to have to really help to keep DJ upright IMO.
Half time adjustments
MarvelousMike : 9/13/2020 9:29 am : link
One thing the Giants in recent years have not been good at, is coming out in 3rd quarter with some decent adjustments to what happened in the first half. Hope to see that trend change starting with this game.
Expecting a lot of 2 and 3 TE formations
ArlingtonMike : 9/13/2020 10:18 am : link
Wear down their line and ERs with the run and help the tackles with their tremendous outside rushers. With a steady dose of play action and screens and some deep balls to Slayton and Tate to keep em honest. Should be a big game for Engram as well.

On defense, I would match up Ryan with Smith-Schuster as much as possible. Shut him down and let the other guys beat you. Johnson is a bit beat up with a bad foot which should help our cause.

Play smart, aggressive, mistake free football. Let special teams and turnovers be the difference and we have a chance. Not much of one but at least enough to grow some confidence and make it interesting.
Giants win
Giantimistic : 9/13/2020 10:54 am : link
Daniel Jones, 3 tds, 300 yards, 1 fumble.
Barkley, 100 running and receiving
Carter 2 sacks

Tuesday conversation will only focus on Jones’s 1 fumble.
Giants
XBRONX : 9/13/2020 11:18 am : link
way too young and inexperienced to win this one.
I think we'll go down
CT Charlie : 9/13/2020 12:29 pm : link
38-16, BBI will go nuts, and we'll rebound for a close, well-played game in Chicago. Young, eager, quick-study team.

The main reason I think we lose is that Pittsburgh's front 7 may be the NFL's best and their secondary is up there too. This is a veteran system team that will come out ready to challenge a new OL and new system.

I expect mental errors and missed assignments which will hurt our ability to score.

The Giants will play hard; learn a lot; but, come out with a LOSS.

Totally agree. It’s been so frustrating to watch.

My thought is if we can run the ball consistently we can keep in this game.

I can't wait!

…exciting game, sloppy, turnovers, Giant offense surprises with a lot of misdirection and motion, Barkley as effective as decoy as he is a runner and receiver. Big day for Jones.

Giants 20, Steelers 17.
