What do you do when a prominent member of your FF team...

...plays for a rival?

This was one reason I didn't play fantasy football. I have Zeke as my biggest name in fantasy but he plays for the Cowboys, obviously. I'm considering rooting for him to lose yardage every play but if he has a big game have it as a consolation prize. How do you guys handle these situations do you actively root for the player?
I can make money w fantasy football

I can't make money rooting against the Giants' rivals.

I root to make money
just root for them to lose - whatever he does in a loss doesn't matter

in the event he scores and they win at least something positive happened for you. It would have happened any way.

But if you're watching a Cowboys game do you root for him to pick up good yards on every carry or do you root for him to be stuffed? I think I'll do the latter.
Been playing FF for over 20+ years

and done quite well. Not difficult. You root for the individual player (i.e Ezekiel Elliott)to get you points and for the team (Cowpuke) to lose. Really not that tough. You just don't want to load up with too many players from the hated teams.

My point is what do you do on each individual play if you're watching the game?
I would never

draft Cowboys or Eagles. I just can't root for them or their players to do good.
I don’t draft NFC East players. I can root against them.

is the only player I drafted from the NFC East. Not a prominent member of my team.
It doesn’t matter

rooting for anything has no outcome on what happens. I’ll draft anyone who will get me to win in fantasy, makes no sense to play if you care about things like that.
Has no bearing on the outcome

It's just a set it and forget it thing. It's very easy to do.

Look, if you're going to do fantasy anything, you have to be willing to draft and carry players who play for teams you hate. If you aren't, everyone wants you in their league because it means you'll pass on some really good players and you'll rarely ever win anything.

I only did 2 leagues this year. I have Prescott on one of the teams. Wentz is my 2nd QB on the other. If either guy is in one of my lineups it is what it is. It doesn't mean I root for them. Fantasy is always secondary and has no actual bearing on what happens on the field.
Look, if you are watching an individual play,
redwhiteandbigblue : 9/13/2020 7:40 pm : link
a 5 yard run for a first down gets you at most 1/2 a point, so you root for the player to get 4 yards and no 1st down. If it's your kicker, you root for a fg over an extra PT. because it gets you 3 pts over 1 PT and means your hated team only got 3 pts instead of 7. You just have to learn how to justify in your head. It's really not difficult. But you ALWAYS root for a Giants win, regardless.
Call me old school.

I don't draft NFC East players. Obviously I have players who will play the Giants. I root for them in their other 15 games, not the game they play the Giants.
If you cant see yourself rooting for a player..

then dont draft them. Personally, ive never had an issue with that; fantasy is separate from "real world" for me. I just want to win.

Why do you even need to "root for the player" if you draft them?

I just root for what suits the Giants best and let the fantasy pieces fall where they may. Like I said in my prior post, I actually have Prescott in one league. I am rooting for the Rams to beat Dallas first and foremost.

I don't watch every Prescott dropback and think to myself "man, I hope he connects on a bomb to Gallup here for a TD" - I am hoping he gets sacked, picked off, whatever..

If he has a good game, cool for my fantasy team, but I'm not actively rooting for Dak at all. I am just rooting against the Cowboys because the Giants are always going to be more important than fantasy. For me, at least.
You kidding me?

I had Romo, Dez, Witten and made sure 100% I started them the night Odell had that one-handed catch in 2014. I had OBJ on my team as well. That was the smartest thing I ever did in fantasy - draft OBJ in his rookie year with my last pick.

That game won me so much money because the Giants defense was trash and I knew it. Not my fault. They played like shit that whole year and couldn't care less if I hurt their feelings in the process of winning money - because of their shit play.
I've watched games
Harvest Blend : 9/14/2020 9:18 am : link
at sports bars where a Giant fan openly rooted for a certain Giant NOT to score TD's because it would hurt his fantasy team that day.

Asshole cared more about his fantasy team than the Giants. Fuck him.
I view fantasy football as a fun thing, if I make money thats icing on
PatersonPlank : 9/14/2020 9:55 am : link
the cake.

Because of this priority, I just don't draft Cowboys or Eagles (except for maybe a D). The Redskins are so bad I don't really need to draft any of them anyway.

And let me add its not hard to do. For example if I had the 1st round pick and Zeke was sitting there, I bet also Kamara and Dalvin Cook are sitting there too. Any of these will be good picks and who really knows which one will be best.
