It's Gameday!

Giantophile : 9/14/2020 6:24 am
At long last. We made it. The long off season is behind us. Now it's time to see what we've got.

It probably won't be pretty early but I am excited for the future of this franchise. Good luck to Coach Judge and let's go Giants!!!
Eagles and Cowboys losing....tells us that division is up for grabs
George from PA : 9/14/2020 6:32 am : link
Washington DL is dangerous but we know they are flawed.

If division is up for grabs, playoffs is a possible goal.

So is last place....but that is for another discussion
According to a bunch on here,
Big Blue '56 : 9/14/2020 6:35 am : link
the division is not up for grabs. 🙂
I’m expecting growing pains
BLUATHRT : 9/14/2020 6:43 am : link
But I suspect we are going to see a far different product on the field this year! Excited for tonight and the future of this team!
Browns and Cowgirls proves Kitchens and Garett weren't the ones
Danny Dimes : 9/14/2020 6:54 am : link
Holding them back.

Im still not confident on the OL for Giants but i think the rest of the team is a lot better then what others believe.
The defense got better on every level and offense didn't change much which was the highest scoring offense in the division. Giants continue being the highest scoring offense and if defense can show improvements its good games.

Actually, we don’t know that YET. It’s simply 1 game
go blue

can't f ing wait!
Just out of curiosity
M.S. : 9/14/2020 7:22 am : link

Would anyone be terribly upset if the Giants played extremely well tonight; went toe-to-toe with the Steelers; played tough, physical football; but in the end came up short by a point or two?

On here? Of course people would be upset! They would nitpick every decision Judge made that could have slightly changed the score in the giants’ favor.
Hope springs eternal
j_rud : 9/14/2020 7:38 am : link
Young roster, new staff, limited offseason of uncharted territory, facing an established and talented team.

But!

You never know...maybe Judge is The Guy. Maybe that crazy old bastard Gettleman did fix the OL. Maybe the young LBers and new additions cobble together a pass rush. Maybe the patchwork CB spot can do just enough.

As Ellis Boyd Redding once said, "I hope..."
I’m ok with a tough opponent first
BillT : 9/14/2020 7:55 am : link
I think it will serve them well going forward. This is a team that’s learning how to play. This will be a good lesson.
Well, we’ll see if the team plays hard and smart. That will be...
Crispino : 9/14/2020 7:58 am : link
the only way to get a read on what we have in our new coaching staff. I still think the roster is sub par in the same areas it has been for years: impact defensive players. We still appear to have no impact pass rusher, linebackers who can cover, high level defensive backs. The offensive line may be improved, but by no means a strength, and the receiving corps pedestrian.

So, I’m not expecting any miracles from Joe Judge. Just put a team out there that plays smart, tough football, and get the most out of the limited talent.
I think there are going to be a lot of
Mike from SI : 9/14/2020 8:16 am : link
upset and disappointed posters on here tomorrow. I really hope I'm wrong.
I hope that they keep it close
Dnew15 : 9/14/2020 8:22 am : link
and it's at least competitive.

I'm tired of going falling asleep at halftime b/c the Giants are getting their doors blown in.
My gut tells me
Tony in Tampa : 9/14/2020 8:45 am : link
that the Giants are going to get manhandled tonight. Doesn't mean that they can't reform into a better team later in the season but this start is brutal. Hope I'm wrong.
Let’s win some games first before we start

If the Giants are still standing
M.S. : 9/14/2020 9:14 am : link

by the start of second half, we gotta chance.

Or, knocked out of the ring with 5 minutes left in the second quarter.

We're underdogs for sure...
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 9/14/2020 9:16 am : link
But a win would be damn nice.
Can the Giants put pressure on Roth?
M.S. : 9/14/2020 9:25 am : link

An effective pass rush will keep this game very interesting.

A pass rush like last year and it will be an early evening.
GAMEDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sneakers O'toole : 9/14/2020 9:49 am : link
So glad to see the return of Giants football. Every offseason feels long, this one an eternity.

LET'S GO GIANTS!!!
AND,

I normally hate Monday Night Football, especially to start the season, but this early time slot makes it a little bit less painful. Thank god that we aren't in the Denver/Tennessee timeslot.

715 on MNF...I'll take it.

we dont even know what big ben will be....he could suck. he is old coming off an injury and he didnt look great before he got hurt.

the steelers offense starts with QB and if he stinks up the place, they could easily lose to us. they arent some juggernaut that this board makes them out to be.
How about some optimism
Rick in Dallas : 9/14/2020 10:38 am : link
I think we keep it close in a very competitive game.
Go Giants

I equate this game to the 96 Opener vs. a very good Buffalo team. We need to get off to a good start, jump on them early before Big Ben and company get into any kind of rythymn. We did in that game, getting off to a 17-0 lead, but then the offense stalled after that, and eventually Jim Kelly and the Bills go in sync and came back to beat us, Lets hope for different results in this game. Giants have a chance to really make a statement in this opening game..
games get decided
jmalls23 : 9/14/2020 11:41 am : link
penalties, turnovers. period
Looking forward to this...
rnargi : 9/14/2020 11:47 am : link
steady improvement. Get better. Execute. Don't make big mistakes. GROW!
We are winning tonight
jpkmets : 9/14/2020 12:23 pm : link
This season gonna be way better than conventional wisdom dictates.

Danny Dimes leads us to 10-6 and the division. Starts it off with 4 td tonight. Two to Saquon with 225 total yards and three scores.

38- 11 giants and the whispers start that Ben’s time is done.

I like your optimism here!!
Gotta have some semblance of a pass rush tonight
M.S. : 9/14/2020 1:11 pm : link

Hard to envision a win without at least some periodic pressure on Roth.
Bottom line.. if they can't get pressure on Roth
Jim in Forest Hills : 9/14/2020 1:14 pm : link
it will be a ugly game. He will pick the secondary apart if he has time. I think the Giants will stop the run initially. the run front looks strong. Get heat on him and we'll have a chance.
listening to game tonight
jmalls23 : 9/14/2020 1:32 pm : link
are Papa and Banks delayed if I listen during game?

Yes i'd be upset.

We lost a close game week 1 to the Jags too. That wasn't a terrible showing. We still sucked.

BE careful being content with close losses. Bad teams lose close games. Good teams win ugly games. We haven't won an ugly game in years. Time to change things up.

BrianLeonard23 : 9/14/2020 4:54 pm : link
I am probably getting to excited for kickoff as it creeps closer as I always do and getting too far ahead of myself but, enough is enough. Done with being a doormat. Done with the revolving door of coaches. Done with picking at the tippy top of the draft.

It’s time to turn this shit around and it starts now. We are not the Browns, Lions, Jets, or Bengals. We have a rich tradition and it’s time to start a new one. Daniel Jones. Joe Judge. It’s your time.
One other thing
BrianLeonard23 : 9/14/2020 5:00 pm : link
Our division sucks and we should be able to take advantage of it. Eagles blew a 17 pt lead to Washington and their window may have slammed shut. Dallas has a lot talent and a mediocre at best QB.

A fortunate scheduling quirk for us is that we get to go to Seattle in a year where they won’t have the 12th man in their corner.
