Synching the radio broadcast

NewBlue : 9/14/2020 1:35 pm
Does anyone know how?
Does it require certain equipment?

Manual way to do it

if you can pause on your TV. i think the delay is about 6-8 seconds? Pause the TV as the game starts and sync yourself...
Radio is ahead of TV

So pausing TV isn’t the solution. I haven’t been able to find a way to pause the radio.
I think you can pause Sirius XM radio

I haven't tried it with a football game, though.
if you can record your radio & tv broadcasts

play both on a delay
To me this is a massive wasted opportunity

especially during COVID - streaming is the future. In the words of Bill Burr imitating a deranged Steve Jobs...

"GET ON IT!"
I keep saying it..

but the NFL not having an all in house solution for this is crazy...

MLB.tv you can watch out of market, buy packages for just your team at a cheaper rate, watch which RSN you prefer, and sync either radio broadcast over the video.

The NFL continues to partner with Sunday Ticket, etc. and the product sucks...just look at how many threads like this one, and others are every single season. Its why I go the less than "mainstream" route for my watching needs.

Anyway, to the OP: Ive done it a few times, but its a legit pain in the ass to do this without extra hardware. There are AM/FM radios that can be set to delay, and even plugged into your home theater setup such as this:
https://www.sportsyncradio.com/

Or if you are a little more savy, you can plug your AM/FM radio to your sound card in your PC, and use a software solution such as this:

Frustrating

It is the only sport where we have to listen to "Neutral" announcers, it is not just that they are neutral, they just dont know the team or focus on OUR team the way Papa and Banks do.
Takes a lot out of the fun

Sirius is delayed

I did this last year with MNF broadcasts. Sirius was behind. I paused the TV to sync. Was a little bit of work. A little frustrating when the delay would shift a few seconds (not sure why). And I’d have to re pause to sync up. It’s worth it if you really hate the announcers like I did last years MNF crew. It’s not worth it if the tv announcers are ok.
Delay is different depending where you live...

...I once had my father convinced I had accurately predicted about 6 straight plays. Then I said "next play, I think it's an end around but it will be fumbled and recovered by the defense."

7 seconds later: "...fuck you."

Tears of laughter.
Papa and Banks are better

But it's good practice to learn to watch without commentary.

If you've been watching football for years, you KNOW what you're seeing. Unmute if there's something you need explained.
